+ The twin lense kit for anyone new to the world of DSLR is brilliant as it starts you off being able to experiment with the different abilities of different lenses. Bright LCD screen and easy-to-use menu for navigating the multiple settings. The camera offers all of the same automatic features as are on a regular Olympus compact (based on Olympus FE230) plus the more sophistacated manual options you would expect to find with a DSLR.

- It not easy to find fault with this camera kit. There are only two points. 1) Grip on the camera's body is a little bit awkward, making it difficult to hold it for a long time. However, the camera is very light-weight in relativity to other DSLRs, and the strap makes it comfortable when walking around. 2) I cannot, as of yet, find out how to put the autofocus off, which is a little bit annoying. But, seeing as these are the only faults i can pick out, it really is very good!

+ Better quality photographs than my previous compact digital camera

- I upgraded from a Nikon Coolpix compact camera - the Olympus E420 is more sophisticated and therefore has a greater learning curve.

+ Excellent features for an entry level kit. Before purchase, I looked carefully at the Panasonic G1, Nikon D3000, Canon 1000D...
This kit is lightweight and fits the hand perfectly, has Live-view and importantly, a reflex mirror for accurate focusing. The four thirds format is smaller than APS-C sensors, but delivers good images with little noise, (non that I can find at ISO100.)

- I'm not sure that this is bad; I am plagued by a feeling that the light weight of the lenses are an indication that they are poor quality, but this has not proved to be so in normal use. There are of course a series of "PRO" spec' lenses that will fit this camera should I find the kit lenses fail to meet my needs...

This includes Live View depictions on the LCD, which can significantly simplify image composition. In addition, as one of the world’s smallest and lightest D-SLRs, mobility is hardly an issue. The E-420 will fit just about anywhere – from a small daypack to a lady’s handbag. This makes it a perfect companion for journalists, travellers or other adventurers who appreciate the one-of-a-kind portability, performance and value for money it delivers. The easy-to-use 10.0 Megapixel E-420 features 28 shooting modes to suit a multitude of photographic situations and is ready to use straight out of the box. It will be available in stores from late April 2008.
