It does what it claims to do, and its very easy to get started with and picture quality in the right condtions is awesome, the huge rear screen excellent.
-
No viewfinder, screen only.
The shape occasionally makes it difficult to hold as its a very slippery finish.
Having to remove the battery to charge it is a pain.

Lots of features mean I sometimes forget how to find something on the menu, but with frequent use you get used to it.

This may not be the most technical camera on the market, but for me it has been brilliant. So simple to use, great pictures (no red eye!, which is a big thing for me!) great battery life, works just as good at night time. love it!

a third of the size and twice the resolution of my old camera. Fits unobtrisively into pocket, so I tend to take out more. Although small I find it easy to use, even with my large hands.

The styling and size were very nice.

The image quality was poor. The delay from pressing the button to it taking the picture was poor. A number of times the pictures were overexposed.

Great for indoor photos, punchy colours. reasonably fast start up time

Doesn't handle high contrast outdoor photos very well. battery/memory card door seems a bit flimsy for an otherwise rock solid camera

This is a really well made and good looking camera. It's great as a portable, easy to take with you camera and works well in most conditions.
-
Don't like the Olympus software provided for tranferring and "cataloging" images. The menu interface is not always intuitive but this maybe because I'm used to working with another camera. Flash is OK but has it's limitations.

Camera Type

Compact
There are 2 main types of camera: The SLR and the Compact.
SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. SLR cameras use a prism to reflect the exact image as seen through the lens and so offers a more accurate viewfinder. SLR cameras have detachable lenses offering greater flexibility if you wish to take a variety of different photographs.
Compact cameras have a built in lens and an ‘above lens’ viewfinder which is less accurate but they are often cheaper, more sleekly designed and easier to carry anywhere with you to capture that moment perfectly without having to fiddle with complex settings or a bag full of lenses.

Digital Zoom Ratio

4
Not to be confused with optical zoom, digital zoom enlarges a portion of the image thus simulating optical zoom. In doing so, some image quality is lost.
Face Recognition

No
A function for automatically detecting peoples faces and correctly adjusting the focus and exposure to take the best photo
Image Stabilisation

No
If a photo is taken at a slow shutter speed, or at a long focal length, the effects of ‘hand shake’ will be amplified. Some cameras come with built-in image stabilisation which is designed to act against this to produce sharper images.
It’s great for low light shots without a tripod, like at a gig.
