you dont need a laptop/netbook, to surf the net and watch films.it also has full handwriting recognition, fm transmitter for music in the car. and the video playback is awesome, along with the amazing quality video you can record.
was starting to get fed up with disappointments of new phones, being not very good, then this came along. simply the best phone i have ever used in my life, ever.
it does so much, and does it well.

The battery generally lasts no longer than a day, and if you listen to alot of radio/music or watch videos or use bbc iplayer you can cut that in half! So annoying! there is sometimes a delay with the touch screen also.

Excellent Storage Capacity, Starts up fairly quick. A-GPS is fantastic, Iplayer is great, Youtube works great, Nokia have sorted out the old contact problem with text messages where Surname is shown first, Touchscreen is very good. S60v5 Themes are enjoyable, Email is good. Rotate-me on the screen is also useful, Qwerty keyboard is very good once you get used to it.
-
First Firmware isnt the best with Facebook widget, Trying to find things in the menu can be annoying. Ovi Store is not the best at present. Not a big fan of the Music Widget, cant find the keys to use to navigate through a tune. This has to be done via touchscreen. Camera could be improved slightly I beleive. Icons could be added to represent faces. Nokia still uses the :) approach

I LOVE THIS PHONE!!!
The Nokia N97 is an amazing gadget! I had a PDA that I used for about eight months, but the phone seemed more of an afterthought. With this phone, I have the best set up ever! A QWERTY keyboard, 32gb HD, touchscreen, email, music player, 5mp camera....I just love it! Sooooo much better than the Blackberry Bold I was going to opt for! It's even got streaming Sky Sports, now I have no more annoying railway journeys!
I am very pleased with the N97, well done Nokia.
-
The bad point of the Nokia N97 at the moment is that the software seems a little buggy. It stalls after a whikle if I haven't turned it off in a day or so, which in my view it shouldn't! I also find the keyboard buttons a tiny bit too small as i keep catching certain buttons at the wrong time and at first it isn't that easy to navigate around the menus.
Even though this phone has a few bad points, I would still rate highly it to anyone.

Beautiful looking phone that's different to other phones on the market.
Battery life is initially quite poor but a weeks worth of full charge / discharge cycles gets me two days battery life (Usage = Approx 3 hours of music a day and 1 hour of internet browsing)
Nokia Maps is cool! You can also download google maps for this phone
Sound quality is very good (I don't use the supplied earbuds though). Sony walkman phones have the best sound quality in my opinion but the features of this phone more than make up for the shortfall.
5MP camera with Carl Zeiss optics is very good. I'd even say this could compete with the 8MP camera phones now available
-
Software is a bit clunky, especially if you have a lot of apps open. FIrmware update has made the responsiveness a bit better but hopefully future software updates will make the software as smooth as an iphone.

When installing my personal photos, they dont appear in chronological order. I like to view my photos in date order they were taken and as far as i can tell, i cannot do this with photos ive taken on another device.

Firstly a very important feature for me is the FM TRANSMITTER, built in, which allows you to play your songs through any radio on the go. but it has interferance when your charging at the same time. iplayer. films fantastic, photos browsing excellent. memory capactiy brilliant :).
-
charge time slow compared to n95, doesnt always auto select access point but will be sorted on a update i am sure. not as loud as a n95 for music. but as a whole all these things are not a problem :). fantastic phone.

it has plentiful of features, for example you can transmit music from the phone to your radio! (very cool idea). love the GPS feature which at somepoint i will use when i'm lost somewhere in a unknown location and can simply follow the walk -GPS navigation. the amount of storage is amazing and i think its much better than iphone which is what i was going to go for but chose the N97,especially after realizing that i can fit another 16GB of memory. totaling around 46GB of space. the camera on the phone is amazing and its almost my main digital camera. it feels like a camera and the buttons are in the places they need to be (weather you have the phone flipped up or the screen closed).
-
i find that charging the phone is not bad, but battery life doesnt seem to last very long. for a phone like this one i think there should have been more juice capacity there. no big deal tho. the software can be a little glitchy but overall it is an amazing phone.

Keyboard is ace and easy to use. The touch screen is very responsive. The battery life is good as long as you remember to turn apps, when not in use, to offline mode. Many times I've been caught out by leaving the Facebook widget on :P even with that online the N97 manages to go a full day which compared to some touch screens is ace.
-
The Ovi store has a few decent apps to offer, even though it's early days I was hoping for a lot more. Even though not really a phone fault, which ever genius at Nokia that designed the case for the N97 forgot to put a hole in it for the headphone jack, kind of annoying! The phone's only froze on me when it's been due an update, otherwise it's a decent lil runner :)

The Nokia N97, has a 3.5″ touchscreen, 5MP camera (with Carl Zeiss Tessar lens) and flash, a huge 32GB of storage with an extra 16GB via the Micro SD slot, GPS with built-in compass and WiFi.
And if you get fed up of having to keep charging up your phone, the N97 has 400 hours of standby time! Along with 37 hours of music and 4.5 hours of video playback.
There's also a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, fully customisable home screen, Symbian S60 software, N-Gage games and all the syncing you expect from Nokia.
Look out for the Nokia N97 in March.
