Score 7.0/10+ It is really easy to text with this device. Good voice activation. Software to backup the stored date & to manipulate the phones data on a PC has really improved lately.
- I really had to buy the "Crystal Case" as there are 3 buttons on the side which control sound clip record. Until I got a "Crystal Case", which also break quite easily, I was for ever having to delete a long list of accidental sound clips. This is really annoying & one of the worst design features on the E61.

Score 4.0/10+ I can download my email from a standard POP3 mail server on the move.
-
1. Difficult to use as a phone. Sound is too quiet to hear in noisy environments.
2. The software icons are all over the place - never where you look intuitively to find them.
3. The voice recorder switch is a real problem - every time you grab the phone you trigger the voice recorder accidentally. I never use the facility - but it's not possible to deactivate it.
4. Nokia PC Suite Synchronisation software deletes all your Speed-dials by default every time you sync.

Score 9.0/10+ A good all-round phone for those who want internet access but not camera. Slim design, well designed.
- Annoying "beeps" which are not always obvious on what the beeps are about.

Score 8.0/10+ It works all over the world (including USA and Japan). It's very good for email because the keyboard and screen are reasonable sizes for typing and reading. The ability to read and edit Word and Excel documents is surprisingly good. It's ability to use Wifi means when travelling it's possible to read emails and websites without huge roaming charges.
- It's very large. I also list this as a good point, but without a jacket pocket it's hard to know where to put this phone! The phone insists on beeping or vibrating every time I get an email, which is a bit annoying (unless I set the phone to not vibrate when a phone call comes in).

Expert reviews for Nokia E61
TechRadar expert review
Cramming in everything bar the kitchen sink is what the E61 is about, with a feature list that includes everything a smartphone should offer. It's got quad-band GSM; 3G support; 802.11b/g; a 39-key QWERTY keyboard for easy data entry; and additional software offering standard features such as synchronisation with email clients, topped off with VoIP functionality via SIP.Making use of the Symbian S60 operating system and its mature web applications, Nokia is competing with Blackberry. The personal organiser is as intuitive as Outlook on a desktop PC. In addition to the keyboard,…
