+ Fairly decent battery life even when browsing web (as long as you don't use wlan), big clear screen, camera is reasonable if not great - this is a music phone after all - and has good video recording, symbian S60v5 o/s very stable and available apps are growing all the time. supplied with very practical cover/pouch which has rigid front and back to protect the screen and elasticated sides making it easy to slide in and out. Overall a very nice phone for people who want a touchscreen with a little of everything.

- As above the wlan drains the battery really quickly. more annoying than bad but no smilies that i can find and a little fiddly using virtual keyboard - i've got big fingers so have to use the stylus for typing. No flight mode. Instructions could be better as does not cover all supplied apps.

+ The amount of storage is brilliant.
The media playback is really simple, and very good quality.
The camera is very good and the applications to improve the pictures while still on the device are fun and easy to use. I especially like the clip art function.
The built in stylus is handy as sometimes just using the screen is a bit fiddly, I also like the plectrum, it attatches easily to the exterior of the case and is easy to use, not to mention good looking!

- The battery life is not that long if you want to use it as a multimedia phone, ie. watdhing media files and listening to music.
I use this phone to keep my daughter amused as well as myself, so using it as a substitute for a portable t.v was one of the reasons I chose the Nokia 5800. It does last a while, but an extended battery life would be greatly appreciated.

+ Its a magnifiecnt phone, really singing and dancing. It takes some time to get used to all the gadgets that are installed(I'm still finding them). Sound quality is excellent when either talking or listening, I've been told that when I use it in the car the person I was talking to could not hear any background noise even though I was moving in traffic and the air con was on.The camera is good too, havent used the video facility yet. Music player is excellent too, really really glad that I got this phone after considering others. The four main contacts on screen facility is excellent enabling you to email, call or text without going into menu contacts. Fantastic phone I cannot say enough good things about it.

- Sometimes when switching it on the screen freezes and you have to remove the battery to get it going again. The screens not good in sunlight you cannot see anything on it.

Hayley, Leeds , “Other”

+ The best thing about this phone is that it doesn't weigh a ton! It's light, easy to carry in your pocket, and to my experience, the battery life is far better than I envisaged. I've gone 2 nights without charging - fair enough, I haven't had heavy use of it, mainly just texting and a few calls during that time, but considering my place of work has the worst signal in history (which wears the battery down faster), I think that's pretty good to go 2.5 days without a charge.
Sound quality is excellent - comparing to my brother's iPhone, the Nokia blows it out the water without doubt. The 8GB memory card is great for storing music - it's my new iPod alternative! Saves carrying two things around.
Internet connection is generally very good, rarely dropping the connection when linked to my home wireless. Occasionally, if not linked to a good wireless (the free wi-fi in shopping centres, etc) it can be a little slow, but does the job I need it to do.
GPRS is ok - has taken me on some bizarre routes once or twice, but has saved me on a number of occasions when trying to find certain shops or when my Tom Tom battery has gone!
Camera is good. Picture quality is decent and yes, whilst it's not a 8meg pix, it does the job. In my opinion, if you want a higher meg pixels, buy a camera... I got a phone for the main phone features, not really for the camera.
There are a few good applications you can download from OVI and Mosh, but unfortunately, just doesn't compare to an iPhone in that respect.
If you're looking for a phone which is simple to use, light, looks good and has pretty good features, this is the one.
If you want a full-on phone with many applications and everything you could wish for - go iPhone.

- It's just not as WOW as I thought. There's nothing particularly bad about this phone, it just doesn't bowl me over like I imagined (I guess it's new phone blues - damn the advertisers making it sound invincible!!! ;o) ) I guess I'm comparing to the iPhone - don't. They're not meant to be compared. From my own experience, the iPhone is still streets ahead of other phones. I'm not disappointed I chose the Nokia, just kind of wish I had the iPhone too... I'm not a tech-savvy girl, just an ordinary customer, so who knows whether I could've got the best out of an iPhone anyway. But if you just want a phone that performs well as a phone with some good and useful extras, get it. If you want all the Mr T apps, widgets and what-not - don't!

+ I found this phone very easy to use once i had worked out where everything was. Navigation was very easy, the screen very clear and the touch screen was not too sensitive. The integrated stylus made using the keyboard very easy. Most impressed with my first Nokia phone. Included software is excellent too.

- There is a slight delay when you turn the phone to use the widescreen mode and it would have been better if this worked when the phone was tilted in any direction. Had a problem accessing my hotmail through web and walk. It just would not connect to it.

+ This phone comes with loads of memory and a memory card so you can put as many songs on it as you want. The Sat Nav is also really good and handy to have on there, it is easy to use. Because of the big screen watching videos is good and very clear, all in all it is easy enough to use and very self explaniatory, I haven't needed to look at the hand books at all. Also, with the touch there is a pen to use or you can use your finger which means that you very rarely knock the incorrect button, some other touch screens are heat sensitive and a nightmare to use this is fine.

- Because the front of the phone is mainly the screen, you have to watch what you put it in your bag with so the screen doesn't get damaged. It does come with a cover but if you want to to text it means keep taking it in and out. The camera is ok, but not the best.

+ if you have had a nokia before then it will be very familiar. Nice to be able to view movie (mp4) and the quality and screen resolution is ok.
webmail is ok.

- The headphones that come with the phone are terrible.
If I set an alarm from Mon-Fri, I cannot just disable the alarm for today but still leave the setting for the rest of the week. I found the whole area to do with alarms really irritating. On most phones you have more control over individual days. Also, it took me a while to find out where exactly to set the alarm.
The screen is terrible after you have touched it a few times. It is a gloss screen rather than matt. I don't get why the phone would have been designed this way especially since an iphone is matt. The difference is that on matt you would not see all the smear marks. Once they are there, it is really hard to get rid of.
The phone has cut out on me on a number of occasions.
When I imported calendar events from google calendar, it brought in the events with alarms on them. There is no easy way to turn of calendar alarms in one go. You are forced to go through each event which is impractical since there are loads of them. I now find that I have alarms going off at strange times in the night which is really annoying.

+ This phone has it all...perhaps too much! I bought this for my wife to replace her aging Razor and to be fair the transition from flip phone to touch phone for her hasn't been easy. For me, however, the software is easy to use and navigate, the option to use your fingers or the stylus is a boon. Internet access is quick and easy and the fact you can flip the screen to landscape from portrait just by turning the phone round is quite groovy. Sound is good for a phone and the 8gb memory card fits pretty much most of what you would want on a phone.

- The screen is very dark and hard to see in the sunlight, making it frustrating to use. The phone itself is quite chunky, so doesn't feel like a 'girlie' phone (to use my wife's words). This is no match for the iphone in terms of styling.

+ I love the fact that I can download films on this and watch them anywhere. The kids love the games, web browsing is easy, sound is amazing. I love this phone and so have a couple of friends as they have been out and got one since.

- There are really not many, It takes a while to get used to some of the toing and froing needed to get from one application to another and to send an sms you need to tap a couple more buttons to get there and out but that is just nit picking as it is still not complicated.

+ The 5800 is so easy to use, when playing music it has a fantastic sound.
I love how easy it is using the stylus with the querty keyboard when texting and how you lock the screen when it's not in use. Overall i love this phone.

- The only bad point for the 5800 is the battery life it soon needs charging when playing on the games or playing music for a while.

+ Really nice to use, multiple input methods are great, music playback is loud and clear, nifty user interface at times with things like notification area to access wi-fi, new messages and alarms. Nice large screen, videos work great, comes with tv out cable and case and desk stand. Battery life good as well, used music player, GPS and took calls and texts and had 5 bars battery still at end of day. Really nice design and overall just really good.

- Can be quite slow when web browsing. User interface has occasionally frozen. Nothing dramatic really.

+ long battery life and an excellent camera have not used the music very much as it is used mainly for calls and text messaging;
Navigation is easy and quick

- The only downside is the screen which is easily scratched unless you are really careful. I tend to keep it in the hard case which makes it's overall size somewhat bigger a soft case with a chamois inner to protect the screen may be better.

- when going to delete messages in sent u have to do them one by one which takes forever, u can send multiple txts but they send seperately whereas the old nokia sent a multiple txt as one txt and u just had to delte the one not every single one one by one.

- may be my network but texts can sometimes take longer to be sent. the keypad and screen lock on the side of the phone can be temperamental when you need to use the phone. the music software display when you are playing music is very boring with no option to change screen colour, insert patterns etc.

+ Excellent calender/organiser
The 'Show open apps' is an excellent feature.

- Could be able to queue single tracks or albums without having to save as playlist first.
Lock sometimes gets stuck
Full screen QWERTY doesn't have some characters which i would like to see there, perhaps if the caps is touched three times on full screen QWERTY then all characters (such as > < [ ] ) could fit, or maybe some pointless ones could be removed like the strikethrough B, the upside down question mark, or the lower case i and p which are already in the alphabet area.
The map doesn't know where I am.
Also I don't understand why Texas Hold'em Poker isn't available for this phone.

- the music player is not that good, if you listen to a song and stop it, then later go back in to your music list it plays from the begining again. The same with the playlists, if i am listening to a playlist and i want to see my other music it stops the playlist and you have to start it again. It is also a very big phone.
