+ Excellent quality camera, often use instead of heavyweight D300. Sometimes large pixel sensors equals reduced quality, big isn't always best!! In this case it's the opposite. Raw or jpeg, equally as good. A really great camera.
GPS is also efficient and a fun addition.

- Only that the lens barrel protrudes into the viewfinder when on wide angle, not a problem when on zoom.

if you want to point and shoot you can, but also if you want to experiment in pictures you can
D-Lighting works very well

- Noise in med to high ISO, but for its price it’s very good

+ Excellent image quality especially for indoor portraits. I like the face recognition functionality. I have a Nikon digital SLR but sometimes I find it handy to take something a bit smaller when I'm out and about. Looking forward to taking this on holiday.

- I'm sure there are some, every product has them, I haven't found any yet!

+ Excellent all round small camera giving excellent images. Easy to hold and point and shoot with the option of using it as a camera which you set for yourself. The GPS system worked reasonably well and I managed to use it all the time I needed to.

- Silly case, you have to take the camera out of the case to use it rather than using the strap dangling in front of the lens. The GPS drains the battery very quickly and if you forget to recharge it overnight you are rather stuck.

+ Very easy to use with built in light meter, programme mode also excellent for point and shoot. Once had turned of auto focus the pictures became a lot sharper!

- Auto focus and gps a waste of time. Once these are turned off the camera turns from a point and shoot toy to a semi pro camera!

There are 2 main types of camera: The SLR and the Compact. SLR stands for Single Lens Reflex. SLR cameras use a prism to reflect the exact image as seen through the lens and so offers a more accurate viewfinder. SLR cameras have detachable lenses offering greater flexibility if you wish to take a variety of different photographs. Compact cameras have a built in lens and an ‘above lens’ viewfinder which is less accurate but they are often cheaper, more sleekly designed and easier to carry anywhere with you to capture that moment perfectly without having to fiddle with complex settings or a bag full of lenses.

NIKKOR wideangle 4x zoom lens with super-telephoto capability, offers outstanding precision and sharp resolution. (35mm ¹³⁵ film format equivalent: 28 – 112mm). Focus range from as close as 2 cm to infinity.
Built-in Global Positioning System (GPS) records the exact location (latitude and longitude) where a picture was taken as ‘geotags’ in the image data (EXIF).
13.5 megapixel resolution lets you capture outstandingly detailed images that are suitable for printing complete or just from selected areas, even in large format.
RAW file format: images can be shot and saved in high-quality RAW format that provides an uncompressed digital “negative” of the image to perfect on a computer later on. RAW format images can be opened and edited in Nikon’s View NX software (Windows version only), or in any other application that supports the WIC (Microsoft’s Windows Image Component) codec.
COOLPIX Picture Controls let you quickly and easily perfect your images in the camera. Simply select an image and adjust the sharpness, contrast, or vividness of the colors.
Expandable system: compatible with external flash units, wideangle converter lenses, and wireless remote controls that let you release the shutter from a distance.
