Navman S50 3D

+ Very easy to use, even without looking at the instructions! Good sized screen, and very clear image. Very clear verbal instructions. Very forgiving when I didn't follow the instructions: automatic reprogramming to a new route was very quick.

+ All its functions are very quick, sat finding, re-routing etc. and it's ease of use is very good.

- Getting the blue tooth function to work needs a college course.

+ Easy to use with lots of trip info.
On a recent trip I found the diagrams of upcoming roundabouts extreemly useful & well laid out.

- Probably just the way I've got it set, but it has a tendancy to take the most direct route, rather than the most obvious ... ie it likes it's it's b roads.

+ Simple to use 3D satnav. Bought for parents who are useless with gadgets and they took to it like a duck to water. Easy menu system, simple bluetooth set-up for mobile phone use, has memory expansion slot to use as an MP3/4 player. It was ready to go straight out of the box once initial charge completed.

- Personally the size was to big for me but the device is only larger than other satnavs due to the increased screen size which provides excellent viewing for my parents and is not cumbersome once fitted to the windscreen/console mounting.

- Routes often go miles out of the way to get to destination.

+ Easy to use as a SatNav; convenient pocket size and still decent screen size; directions so far have been pretty good

- Bluetooth connection to phone very awkward to get to work and when you do is unreliable; does get some directions wrong - e.g. I have been sent down a one way street the wrong way. It misses quite a few mini-roundabouts so you have to be keen on watching the map as well as listening for instructions.

- Often directs you through busy areas such as Knightsbridge on a Saturday!

+ Really easy to use, recalculates very quickly especially when coming out of tunnels. And I found the bluetooth handsfree very easy to setup took about a minute.

- A bit to plastic looking and although the handsfree is easy to setup, the michrophone is built into the unit so for people to hear you, you have get really close to it.

+ Great screen

- Seems to take silly routes making routes longer

+ Clarity and effectiveness. Enjoyable experience to use. Locks on to satellite quickly. Rapid recalculation if the route is changed.

- Difficulty using bluetooth with mobile phones.
