+ Control panel is intuitive & very easy to use. Solidly built machine & nicely designed. The high position of the fliter is great and is one of the main reasons we bought the Miele. Overall, very pleased and glad we decided on a Miele.

- It's a little noisier than we thought it would be, but apart from that nothing else comes to mind.

+ Very quiet. Simple to use controls. Build quality exceptionally high, eg metal door latch and hinges

- door hinged on the right where most other machines seem to be on the left which means that stacked machines (with Tumble Dryer) are slightly awkward to transfer clothes.

+ It is so quiet compared to any other machine. I like the honeycomb drum - having a farmer in the house means the occasional nut or bolt which has escaped the pocket check doesn't go through the drum!

- The only thing I dont like is that the door opens the opposite way to what I have been used to, however, like driving abroad, you get used to it eventually.

+ Feels like a well built machine. Very easy to use. Is quiet and gets the clothes very clean. Bought due it getting very good reviews on 'Which?' on line. Never though I could be as impressed as I am with a washing machine!

+ The washing machine has a very retro look and easy to use. There are hardly any noise from the machine when it is carrying out the wash cycle.

- The only disappointment for me is that there is no feature for small load or half load washing.

+ I love my new Miele wash machine. It's very quiet. It uses much less water than my previous wash machine and the spin cycle is not only quiet but is very effective. The drum can also take a larger load so I can get more done in less time.

+ This machine washes brilliantly and has a 30 degrees economy wash of only 30 minutes. The memory can be set to start up at the programme you use most often, saving time . An excellent machine so far.

+ It looks very good and is easy to load and set. I like the choice with temperature and spin controls.The digital display keeps me informed what is happening. The wash programme is very quiet.

I feel it is an extremely well built machine - it shouts 'class'.

- The drain pipe is thicker than on our previous machine (old Hoover). We are having to change our waste pipe to be able to incorporate the washing machine and water softener drain pipes into the same waste pipe which was never a problem before.

- None really. One thing I would like though - we had a dyson machine prior to this. This had a pull-out (and down) castor at the front, and was mounted on castors at the rear. This was great for ease of pulling it out to clean behind the machine. As the Miele's are so heavy, this would be a welcome function.

+ The machine is great, the clothes come out almost dry! Its easy to use even my 12 year old can put a load on.

+ the w1714 has a nice big drum, is very simple to use and with miele you know the energy efficiency is going to be very good too. it has a porthole type door, looks very elegant and the noise is only audible if youre in the same room and its on its highest spin. all in all an excellent washing machine.

- the only negative for us was that the cold water hose (it only has a cold water supply hose), which comes attached to the machine was not quite long enough for our position and is not allowed to be removed, so we had to replumb. you can buy longer hose from miele, but i didn't want to wait anymore.
