Miele W 1714 SOFTTRONIC

A first rate product. This is my 4th washing machine in 12 years!! My husband wanted to purchase a Miele when we were first married but the cost put me off - how I wish I had listended to him! I have tried Hotpoint x 2, Hoover and Servis and they have all failed. Servis actually lasted me 18 months. Miele is living up to its expectations and I anticipate many years of happy washing!!

It is very quick. The controls are very easy to use and easy to adjust, if you want to. I thought I just wanted a 'good, simple machine' that did a 40 and a 60 degree wash. This machine makes having a sophisticated machine as easy to use as the simple one I thought I needed. I am now much more adventurous when programming my machine! How exciting is that? It is also very, very quiet. The plumber couldn't believe how quiet it was and went away impressed. The honeycomb drum is supposed not to beat up your clothes as much as other machines. I think this could be true too.

It looks a bit plasticky for a machine that is not a plasticky price. The door opens the opposite way round from my old one so it's more difficult to shift the washing to the tumble drier - but as I'm trying to cut down on tumble drier use....that's no bad thing. Actually, the Miele door crashed into the tumble drier door last week and broke off the catch - so you could argue that you shouldn't argue with a Miele - you'll lose.

Very heavy compared to other machines and quite pricey but I decided you get what you pay for.

Easy to follow instructions. Particulary like the computer system that will help you select the right wash. The automatic button makes suggestions based on the load. The digital display also tells you what part of the cycle it is on and how much time is left. At the end of the cycle clothes are occassionally tumbled until it is turned off to avoid creasing. Quiet machine with larger than average load size and good spin speed (less time drying). Bought because mother has a had a Meile for 10-15 years and I used it many times myself.

It was more than we could really afford but we hope it lasts 20 years. Previous machine (Hotpoint) which cost half the price needed expensive repairs 2 months after warranty ran out and then broke again. Another bad point - door sticks out and our dog uses it to get up to the worktop. Mum's Meile has a flat door.

Quiet, efficient. Good range of programs, all you need, no unnecessary buttons etc. Gives a really good clean

Best Washing Machine we have ever purchased. More expensive than some but well worth the extra. Very smooth and Quiet. Superb washing performance. Excellent instruction Book. Also well worth visiting Miele at Abingdon.

I like the way you can easily adjust the temperature for cottons. The clothes wash very well at all temperatures.

I found the instruction book a little complicated to follow at first.

Very good attention to detail in all areas from design to storage of transit bars at the back of the machine. Very good selection of washes and a quiet spin. Washer cold fills and heats the water itself.

so much better cleaning compared to my old candy unit which was bought as part of a new kitchen. you obviously get what you pay for and i feel cheated that i could have had this long ago!!we bought new as we moved house and needed a new unit

Never move house if you own a Meile, they weigh a ton !!!!

Control panel is intuitive & very easy to use. Solidly built machine & nicely designed. The high position of the fliter is great and is one of the main reasons we bought the Miele. Overall, very pleased and glad we decided on a Miele.

It's a little noisier than we thought it would be, but apart from that nothing else comes to mind.

It is so quiet compared to any other machine. I like the honeycomb drum - having a farmer in the house means the occasional nut or bolt which has escaped the pocket check doesn't go through the drum!

The only thing I dont like is that the door opens the opposite way to what I have been used to, however, like driving abroad, you get used to it eventually.

This machine washes brilliantly and has a 30 degrees economy wash of only 30 minutes. The memory can be set to start up at the programme you use most often, saving time . An excellent machine so far.

I love my new Miele wash machine. It's very quiet. It uses much less water than my previous wash machine and the spin cycle is not only quiet but is very effective. The drum can also take a larger load so I can get more done in less time.

Exceptionally quiet and very stylish (if you can say that about a washing machine). Large load capacity and it has a quality feel. 5 year guarantee (special offer at the time) backs up the faith that Miele has in its products.

Well engineered, looks as if it will last a life time, easy to use, looks good, quiet (can stand a pound coin on it's edge on the top and it won't fall over when doing a 1400rpm spin!).

It looks very good and is easy to load and set. I like the choice with temperature and spin controls.The digital display keeps me informed what is happening. The wash programme is very quiet.

Everything in my utility room shakes a bit when it spins. I would have liked a half load programme.

Larger drum and much quieter on spin than I'm used to. I feel it is an extremely well built machine - it shouts 'class'.

The drain pipe is thicker than on our previous machine (old Hoover). We are having to change our waste pipe to be able to incorporate the washing machine and water softener drain pipes into the same waste pipe which was never a problem before.

The washing machine has a very retro look and easy to use. There are hardly any noise from the machine when it is carrying out the wash cycle.

The only disappointment for me is that there is no feature for small load or half load washing.

Solid, quality all round. Quiet & refined. Simple to use. Good wash results and gentle programmes for really delicate stuff.

As with most washing machines, truly short wash times are only possible when the wash load is much lower than the maximum quoted.
