+ Very neat machine and very easy to program, quiet running compared with our old Hotpoint.

- Rear vent has to be lined up exactly with vent through the wall, there is no room at the back of the machine for the normal concertina type hose.

+ Very quiet, easy fluff filter cleaning, large doorway for easy loading, lights up like a Xmas tree on certain settings!

- The hole for the vent ducting is lower on this machine than our previous tumble dryers, meaning a bit of additional diy required

+ It detects how dry the washing is getting and changes the time, so you don't have to guess when it's ready.
It has a light when the door opens, so you can see that everything's out.
The fluff filter is really easy to access and clean.
It has a choice of programmes that matches the ones on the Miele washing machine.
Nice big door, easy to get washing in and out.
Delay timer so you can run it in the night on cheap electricity. It's not noisy.
"Smoothing" cycle which is useful for final airing and softening of washing in off the line.

- Doesn't always get everything completely dry, you might have to put some things back in. But you don't have to guess a new time - it works it out for you.

Vented dryers have a hose which transfers the waste, damp air out of the machine and through a hole in the wall or a window to the outside. They are less expensive than condenser machines but the hose means they need to be placed by an outside wall. Condenser machines collect the excess water within the machine which can then be emptied after use. They therefore do not need a hose and can be placed anywhere in the house.
