Miele W1613 1300RPM reviews: Front Loading loading, 5.5kg capacity washing machine

+ Fantastic build quality, very sturdy, very, very quiet (you only hear the water sloshing around and the spin), large door opening for easy loading. Wide variety of programmes and additional options.

- Very heavy (when moving into place!), no half load option but machine does take account of load when filling. No rinse/spin on its own (if you forget to hold spin or put in conditioner, for example).

+ The express wash programme takes just thirty minutes and washes all of our clothes perfectly and the 6kg drum means we can fit more clothes in. The extra large door makes loading easier the drum is angled upwards so we don't have to bend down. The time remaining display lets us know how many minutes of the wash cycle are remaining and the the buzzer tells us when the washing’s over which is useful if we're in another part of the house and want to put another load in. The ability to open the door at any point during the wash cycle as long as the water level isn't too high or the motor isn't spinning is invaluable when we find an extra sock! The enamel coating looks much brighter than plastic faced washing machines and didn't dent or scratch when we kicked the machine into place! Miele even guarantee it not to corrode or turn yellow for the life of the machine. The motor is very quiet unless spinning and the machine doesn't vibrate. The built quality is excellent and the machine feels very sturdy. The metal hinge and latch for the door are very strong. The free five year parts and labour guarantee is the icing on the cake!

- The machine is extremely heavy making it difficult to manoeuvre into position and is relatively expensive when compared to similarly specified machines from other brands.

+ The best that you can buy for the money as recommended to me by friends, family and by Which. Very good at cleaning, looks good, very simple to use, exceptionally quiet and economic from an energy and water consumption perspective.

- The cost is high. However, you can expect to get a few more years of service out of this machine than most on the market so treat it as an investment.

+ The build quality of this machine is excellent, I expect many years of use from it backed by the manufacturers free 5 year comprehensive parts and labour warranty. The initial purchase price is high but you get what you pay for (actually with the warranty it is less expensive than some other brands). The cycle time is variable down to 30 minutes and this works extremely well. Noise levels are minimal, very little leaping around during spinning due to the weight of the machine. Highly rated by Which magazine. Looks great. Class item.

- We chose a 6Kg capacity machine as there are only 2 of us so not a bad point for us however, some may need a larger capacity machine. The machine is very heavy, almost 100Kg's. Get it installed unless you are eligible to appear in the "worlds strongest man" competition. Spin speed is only 1300. It appears that this has been upgraded to 1400 in the newest model. 1300 dries our clothes so much better than our old machine we are delighted with it, simply choose another variant of the same make to obtain super dry speeds of up to 1600. Cost/benefit needs to be weighed in these circumstances.

- It's expensive, but we are expecting a quality product that we last for years.

+ Sturdy, well built machine with useful features. Wool/hand wash cycle is very good running at only 39 mins and there's also a short and express wash for lightly soiled items. One of the best things is it calculates how much washing is in the machine with regards to how much water it uses. Drum size is good and overall the machine is fairly quiet.

- It is very heavy machine to move - even trying to push it a couple of inches was almost impossible.
