+ This machine is very quiet during it's whole cycle. It is also not as deep as other machines which was one of the reasons for us choosing it. The drum is very spacious and, so far, I am very pleased with the efficiency of the wash. Would definitely recommend.

- The only downside I've come across so far is that you cannot select a spin only cycle so if the machine automatically chooses a shorter spin you can't put the wash back in for a further spin once it's finished. However, because the machine is so quiet and good-looking I think I'll get by without it!

+ It looks fantastic, is extremely quiet, has a massive load capacity, plays a little tune to alert you when the cycle has finished then turns itself off.

- Nothing!

+ I use cloth nappies and this machine washes them beautifully, they are softer and brighter than they were when I bought them! Because it's bigger I am using it less often.

- Cycle times are long unless you use the 30 minute option which isn't good enough for heavily soiled things.

+ Large drum, can change the pre settings e.g 30 minute wash change spin to 1200 instead of set 600. Nice and quiet spin compared to my past machines.

- if you accidently switch machine off, you have to start wash from beginning.

+ I like being able to select the temperature, additional rinses and spin speed. It seems to wash the clothes well, rinse them thoroughly (if additional rinses are selected) and spin speed.

- It looks awful - far too much chrome and bling for my Victorian kitchen! I'm dismayed to find there isn't a separate rinse cycle and it seems to be wearing out my clothes - the hand wash cycle in particular isn't gentle enough and I will probably revert to hand-washing by hand!

+ The LG is incredibly quiet and easy to use. It is extremely efficient, and its 1400 spin speed reduces drying time considerably. It is undoubtedly the best washing machine we have owned.

- Some of the washing cycles are very long - but if this is a consequence of the machine's high efficiency, it is a small price to pay.

+ it is silent when in spin cycle and with an open plan kitchen diner and sitting room its a god send.

- none really could say the annoying little tune it plays when it has finished its cycle, and off course the price a little expencive but for silence its worth it.

+ I found the drum size good and we found it very stable on a solid floor, our previous LG machine was good and very reliable but did not like out of balance loads

- I thought the instruction book could be much improved, the information is there but needs a bit of digging

Washing Machines Buyers Guide

Manufacturer's Description

Large capacity, sleek and compact, energy savings, removes wrinkles iron-free.

8kg Wash Capacity, 1400rpm Variable Spin Steam Direct Drive.

Steam Wash
Steam cleans better than water.
How can steam penetrate more effectively then water? It’s surprisingly simple. The molecules of steam are smaller, hotter, and more active. So steam gets between fibres to dissolve dirt, remove odours, and destroy allergens. Steam also takes less time to do a better job, because it reaches higher temperatures more quickly.

Reduces Allergens
Certified to remove allergens
Steam’s high temperature dissolves the irritants that can harm sensitive skin. The Allergy Care cycle maintains a temperature of 60° Celsius for 10 minutes inside the drum, helping you effectively remove allergens.

Direct Drive
True beauty comes from the inside.
Conventional washing machines use what we call an exterior motor. It’s located outside the drum, with lots of parts to replace, lots of vibration, and lots of noise. But LG Steam is hardly conventional. Because LG Steam’s Direct Drive™ Motor is directly attached to the centre of the MegaDrum.

The New Drum
Each element of the drum works together to clean better. LG Steam’s ergonomic drum comes in two sizes: big (8kg) and bigger (9kg). A bigger drum improves the quality of your wash. Clothes move with fewer tangles and more churning action.

Reduces Creases: Steam refreshes your clothes in just 20 minutes
Let’s say you want to go out tonight wearing the same dress or shirt your wore today, but it’s sweaty or creased. No problem. With Steam Refresh, your outfit is ready to wear fast, with fewer creases and odours.

Easy Control: Bigger LCD screen. Simpler controls.
LG Steam’s control panel provides you with more information about the status of your wash and shows you all ways the Steam can care for your clothes.

Cycles and Options: Every cycle is a benefit
Different items – and different people in your home – have different washing needs. That’s why LG Steam gives you more cycles and more options than any other washer in its class.
