LG F1406TDSP reviews: Front Loading loading, 8kg capacity washing machine

+ This is a fantastic washing machine! The cycle times are less than 90 minutes for a 40 cotton wash (unlike others which were 2hrs+!!), it's quiet when washing, you can set the programmes very easily and change the rinses and spin speds on each wash. The clothes come out clean and well spun (even at 800 on a wool wash) and aren't badly creased like in my old machine. You can set it to spin only which takes a maximum of 15 minutes. It shows you on the screen exactly what it's doing (wash, rinse, spin etc) with a little picture and tells you how long the cycle has left to run. It then plays a pleasant little tune when it's done and then switches off so doesn't waste any electricity.
This model has an 8kg capacity and a huge drum - I could wash a single duvet easily - and the door opens 180 degrees so doesn't get in the way.
Oh, and it looks fantastic too!

- Nothing! The only thing I had to get used to is because of the door being bigger it comes down lower so the washing basket won't fit under the gap but because it opens flat against the machine that's not a problem

+ Better than I thought it was going to be, the time delay works really well and allows me to use off-peak electricity. I haven't yet used all the features, but up to now I am truly delighted with this machine.

- It's not possible to use spin greater than 600, otherwise the whole flat is shaking.

+ Very easy to use. One of the quietest machines I have had. The steam cycle for washing is good for tough stains.

- The washing cycles take such a long time. It doesnt tell you that the 'quick wash' is only quick if you use the lowest spin speed of 400. Not much good when you are in a hurry. Not very impressed with the steam refresh cycle - it makes the washing smell.

+ The machine is much quieter than expected and washes clothes really well. The controls are idiot proof and the drum capacity is much more than I actually need. Would definitely recommend this product.

- The only downside for me was the price but the price is obviously increased due to the colour being black.

- Nothing yet. The one thing I noticed is that you can't do a spin-only like you can with old machines with a mechanical dial - but I probably won't meed that anyway.

+ This is my 2nd LG. I love how clean the washing is. the cycle times are much shorter than my previous machine. I like that it weighs the wash load and uses just the right amount of water - I am not afraid to put in small loads of delicate items. The hand wash cycle washed a delicate sarong perfectly. I even like the little tunes it plays - the machine sounds happy in its work. it looks good

- none - except I'm going to have to buy the matching tumble dryer.

- some small items, like baby socks, can get stuck in the door seal and therefore don't wash/spin...putting in a laundry bag stops this

+ Everything. The best washing machine I have ever used. It really is worth every penny.
The steam refresh cycle means I don't iron my shirts any more and the allergy wash is brilliant for bed clothes.
I can't fault this machine at all, and its very quiet.

+ The Black one looks great. It feels like a quality machine, well built. Very quiet.

- You cant level the machine at the rear because there is no access once its installed.
Also the rear feet should be rollers to allow sliding in easier during installation, its a heavy machine.

- default temperature is 60 degrees which seems mad for such an energy efficient machine. Have to remember to change for each wash.

+ so easy to use, the whole machine is simple and straight forward, with some great features

- t has to be the heaviest machine I have ever come across, it weighs 68KG and installing it can be very very hard work

+ good variety of cycles, especially the steam wash and babycare, it is really instinctive to use and great drum size the energy efficiency is A+ and it looks good too, adding a bit of glamour to the constant washing you have to do when you have a young child!

- not as quiet as it claims to be but not that loud that it is a problem

+ Great Looks!! Super quiet and the washing comes out so much dryer than previous machines we have had so minimal drying time required outside or if i really have to in the dryer.

+ Very quiet, looks good, and the steam feature is excellent - use this most of the time. Another good feature is that you can see how long the wash will take and how long is left. I am really pleased with this purchase and the look of the machine is really good. Have also purchased the Condensor Dryer, which although expensive, is another excellent product.
