- there should have been a booklet of how to use the product instead of a dvd, not everyone has
a pc or dvd player and it is useful to look at quickly.

+ What can I say about the LG 42"LH 5000, it is amazing especially has we have only really had smaller televisions until now. It was so easy to set up, both physically and techincally. We are extremely pleased with our purchase.

Strange tinted blue surround on the TV casing which makes lifting the screen a little bit more of a delicate operation, but had no problem lifting the TV by myself as it is relatively light for its size.

+ Perfect TV, 200hz goes a long way when watching sports or action movies. You can really tell the difference when compared directly with another Full HDTV in the same room. Brilliant colours etc

+ TV rated as 5 stars in What Hi-Fi magazie. DIVX files play no problem via the USB port on this TV. Picks up .avi and .mkv files no problem and seems to upsacale them so you can't tell it's a DIIVX file unless it's pretty quality to start off with.

- Picture quality is not as good as expected. Blu-ray discs don't look any better than normal DVDs on this TV. Sound at lower volumes has a background hiss. Doesn't cope with moving images very well despite the 200Mhz motion flow being set. Very disappointing. 'Buy cheap, buy twice' as the saying goes. Wish I'd bought a Sony or a Samsung.

- Very hard to get a good image when watching normal TV as there is a lot of distortion around people, I expect this is due to the picture being transmitted at 50Hz and the processor being set for 200Hz, if you put in a proper high resolution film the picture is really good.

+ The USB interface is excellent and allows playing of external files very easy. The mens for set up and functions is excellent and allows you to customise how to use the TV functions.

+ Great HD picture, good contrast, lovely natural colours, great design, ease of use, very easy to set up..didn't even need manual,lots of picture tweeks. Decent sound if slightly underwhelming in the bass dept..otherwise clear and concise..ok for everyday tv use..indicitive to many LCD/Plasma TV's so not a huge problem. Probably the best sub £1000 42" LCd you can buy at the mment

- 200hz mode atrocious..motion seemed very very unatural..too smooth and seemed slightly speeded up in places,lots of processing glitches with it on too..recommend in turning it off completely and is much better for it, still delivers excellent motion handling with it off .

+ Nice big screen with fluid movements. The clarity when playing anything 1080 is unbelievable. Rich, natural colours giving a good sense of depth to images.

- Blacks aren't as black as could be hoped for, and sound is not very bassy. Main problem for me is digital only audio output (no phono sockets). I have needed to order a digital to analog converter (waiting for this to arrive).

+ This really is a stunning TV - I spent a long time researching which one I wanted, how much I wanted to spend, and considered most of the major brands. But this model came out on top every time - it is very stylish, has incredible picture quality (the 200Hz TruMotion feature really does make a difference) and totally transforms a living room. I would strongly recommend this set to anyone looking to purchase a new television as it offers very good value for money and is a brand that you can really trust. I particularly like the manual power-off switch and the eco-mode (which is actually more comfortable to the eye when watching in a darkened room anyway), as this helps to ease the conscience a bit, and also its versatility. You'd be surprised how quickly you accumulate new gadgets that use HDMI connection technology so I think it is very important to have as many sockets as possible, as well as other media like Scart and Component connections. Very easy to use and practical - I currently have it on a TV stand in my front room, but will probably wall mount at some stage as it is not heavy and doesn't look overbearing in the room. Having looked at Sony, Samsung, Phillips and Toshiba sets, this is definitely the best value one on the market at the moment and is worth every penny.

- Minor issues - it does suffer from not having a paper manual in the box - I know many other purchasers have already mentioned this. Not specifically about the TV, but I also bought the LG Blu-Ray BD370 Player at the same time. Wasn't so fond of this - recommend that if spending £700 on a TV, it is worth spending the extra to get a very good quality Blu-Ray player as well - now using a more expensive Panasonic which is much better. Also a little tip - to avoid problems with the picture quality when using a Virgin+ (or Sky HD) or Blu-Ray players, make sure the TV is set to 'Just Scan' or 'Original' format, otherwise it is constantly trying to resize an image which is already fine and can cause some fuzziness. I thought there was something wrong to begin with but now know this was user error... the TV is excellent!!

+ The picture quality is excellent. I found however that the factory settings and the picture wizard results were not to my taste, but having adjusted the settings myself I am now delighted with the picture ( it is so clear that sometimes you would imagine that it is 3D ).

- There is some sound distortion at certain low frequencies, but this does not occur often enough to be a real nuisance.
