Kaspersky Internet Security 2009

+ i am not computer literate so easy set up is essential for me
also it needs to be watching over my computer all the time so i know it is safe from any wjich could potentially damage my computer

+ great piece of software that works in the background, much better than previous versions.

- if you have other antivirus software on your system (not kaspersky), it can cause problems as you have to remove it fully before installing kaspersky. also can cause your system to crash frequently. kaspersky are trying to sort this problem out

+ ON INSTALLATION IT DETECTED AND REMOVED A TRJAN WHICH NORTON COULDN'T DETECT. GREAT

+ Having used Norton for over 6 years I was dubious to change, but now I find using this product my Explorer is faster when booting up and no intrusive Pop-Ups asking me to update and then reboot, this product works silently in the background just as you would want it to.I say that because although a security software prog. should at all times be working, it is annoying to have to be constantly reminded it is there..this is an excellent bit of software.

- when it finds a trojan that it can not remove it lockes the computer, i;e- four hours to do 18% of a 500Gb HDD.

+ Very good protection from lots of different types of threats. Blocks everything it identifies as a threat but you still have the option to unblock it. monitors all of your files and applications for suspisious activities. it quarantines suspisious files. you can manually quarantine files manually. This is great protection for your computer and i recommend it.

- Difficulty when inputting the licence key on activating.

+ No stupid extras like norton with password facility etc...

- Moving from Norton to Kaspersky has made my system unstable. Only once in a while but very annoying.

+ The programme was easy to set up, it updates every time you go online which ensures that you have the latest updates. Set it and forget it well pleased.

+ Excellent package - easy to set up. Doesn't use a lot of system resources and therefore doesn't slow the system down.

+ Basic, easy to use program. Software provides overall, stable good protection against harmful internet attacks.

- One of the backdrops, is the fact that it can take a while to scan - depending on how fast your computer system is. Make sure its running at 2Ghz processor (min) and 1gb ram should be enough to run the necessary scheduled scans. But apart from the waiting time, the software is good.

Does not use much memory compared with its rivals.
Have not had any trojans or viruses since I started using Kaspersky over TWO YEARS ago even with loads of downloading!!!!

- Had quite a bit of difficulty seetting it up on a laptop that previously had a free trial of Norton, although in fairness, the technical support from Kaspersky was excellent so maybe it's morte of a negative against Norton.

+ An absolute doddle to install and set up. I used to have Symantec (Norton) and that always made my pc frustratingly slow. Only wish I had changed sooner. Kaspersky is brilliant!

+ Not only does it protect your computer, it is easy to set up, also it shows you results visually(with graphs etc) aswell as in text to make it easier for the user to notice what is happening.

- When a scan is completed it doesnt show what has been found instantly, you have to click on the detected button which could confuse new users.

+ as this is my first time with this product and I am no whiz with computors I did find this program easy to load.
If computor not used for a couple of days ,it tells you that you need to update,this leaves it less likely for problems to occure.

+ Very easy to set up using the default settings, and very good value for money - 3 one-year licences (i.e. 3 pc licence for 1 year). Detection patterns are updated frequently using little pc processor power.

- Some threats detected were rated as 'very dangerous', but they were in fact Java updates (which can be problematic), but grading them in this way might cause alarm.

Virtual keyboard for more secure online payments, banking, etc. Hourly updates. Low PC resource usage (unlike one of the market leaders).

+ Very comprehensive package, easy to set up for the typical Microsoft user.

- Difficult to customise, doest really work so well with Firefox & Thunderbird.

+ Easy to install and configure on a pc. Uses less memory than my old internet security so my pc runs a lot faster and smoother. Less user input required leaving you free to browse the internet while Kaspersky monitors your pc in the background. Excellent value for money compared to the renewal cost of my old security suite.

- On start up, message always says that the software is turned off, and that there is no virus protection, whereas the software is turned ON and there IS protection. It's a bit of a pain seeing this every time!
