+ Very easy to use, simple to learn and easy to set up.

- Can't really think of much, has a habit of turning itself on overnight when on standby.

+ Excellent product and the recording feature is so easy to use - one button and you are done

- It would be nice to have a version where you didn't have to leave it turned on to record overnight or whilst you are not using it - not good on the environment.

- When I had the machine for a week, it suddenly would not respond to the remote control, I had to manually switch the machine off and on again several times, this problem persisted for about half an hour and then it semmed to right itself. Up to this moment it has caused no further problem ( Watch this space ).

+ It is very easy to set up and use, I wish I had bought one years ago. The picture is much more reliable than it was with my old digi box. The series link is a brilliant feature.People had complained about fan noise in other reviews, I can hardly hear it, my tv is noisier!

- Takes a while to fill up the tv guide from standby, I leave it on all the time. that is a small issue though.

Series Recording

- Series Recording only works when the timing is set to "on time" (ie no lead time) so when the electronic guide is not spot on (most of the time!) it cuts off the start or the finish of your recording,
If you could start and finish series recording by adding 5 minutes it would be worth the additional money as this feature is very useful but is spoiled by the lack of lead time The Fan on the unit makes more noise then any other I've owned

+ Thin & light (in weight), & worked first time without having to go through the whole booklet. You could (almost) find your way into setting-up & recording & watching your recorded program without spending more than 15 minutes on the booklet. A good picture & sound & a pleasure to use. I liked BEST --- the ability to record 2 programs simultaneously AND watch a 3rd program also at the same time.

- I just hope that, one day, I can find time to go through the booklet & catch-up-on all of the features that I have not worked-out how to use. Recommend that you create a CD or DVD that 'responds' to a Customer's precise question of 'What to do to get ................ ' etc.

- Fan runs all the time even if unit is in standby mode. Easily switched off behind unit however.
Very easy to start recording leading to unwanted recordings.

+ You can record 2 channels at once, as well as watching a 3rd.
The signal is great (old set-top box used to play up loads, but the Humax picks up all the channels crystal clear).
I have not noticed any noise from it, like some people have stated in other reviews.

No need for the old TV-Plus numbers in the TV guide. Just find the prpgramme you want on the built in guide and press OK. (you have the option of adding time to the end of recordings)
It looks very smart, sits on top of our DVD player perfectly (smaller than the DVD player).

- You have to turn the volume up quite a bit (way past half way) because it does not seem really load. But this could be because our TV is a good few years old.

+ Easy to set up - even for a technophobe like me!

- Can't set the clock to the minute, therefore sometimes programmes get the start missed (grrr)! This can be overcome by scheduling the timer, rather than just choosing the programme to record and "clicking" on the bar.

+ I wasn't expecting the size it was - I was used to a small freeview box I had had for over 10 years but it is absolutely fine - I think it is great and easy to install - love the easy way it records two channels at once - a bit fiddly at first though but it is the first time I have used a digital recorder. I would certainly recommend it and it was a very good price too.

- When I switch it on power save at night you have to re-load it but it doesn't take that long. It does make a whirring noise but you don't hear it when it is on - only when you have the tv turned off - hence me putting it on power save when I turn it off.

- Mainly down to the software. Very clumsy not well laid out menus. The tv guide can take an hour to load, I contacted Humax to see if its a fault or I just need to update the software and they asked for my post code which I replied to and Iv not heared anything since, thats been about 3 weeks so you can add serious lack of support. Another pathetic bit of programming is that if you set it up to record extra time before or after your selection you are unable to use the series link option, how on earth this should effect that other than hopeless engineers who designed this I dont know. and best of all the remote control, they have gone retro and provided one the size and weight of a brick !!. Really wish id replaced my old thompson with a new Thompson, never had any of these issues.

- TV guide downloads everytime you switch the device on meaning that you have to wait a few minutes till its downloaded to see whats on. It would be better if it stored the info then updated it when you next turned on.
Its not very stylish and its hard to tell if its on or not by just looking at the front of it.

+ Easy to use and set up. I got one for my parents who had problems setting their video recorder. This records on the click of a button, so no need to wory about entering time and dates etc.

- Only occasionally does the picture freeze. Easily reolved though by unplugging and plugging in again.
