Its compact and doesn't take up so much desk space as the HP it replaced, and being wireless can be put anywhere.
The features are good - the small screen, the card readers etc etc...
Its also fast!
-
The software is poor - loading it onto my laptop caused it to hang, and when I reloaded it there's something in the start-up trying to connect which can't and doesn't. Consequently the CPU goes into overdrive and slows down and overheats the whole laptop. So far, I'm only able to resolve this by closing down one of the start-up programmes using Task Manager everytime I start-up, which is an aggravation everytime I turn on the laptop.
Also, even though I asked it NOT to instal auto-update, it still did so. I've now learned how to turn it off, but so many software programmes automatically load unnecessary auto updates that run on start-up that it just slows down your PC. I didn't expect this from HP.
Its noisy - don't think about putting this anywhere where you want quiet! It clunks and it swishes, and it has a lovely feature that sounds a chime whenever its finished something - great if you like background music, but if you're trying to get on with something else its simply distracting. I haven't yet found out how to turn it off.
The print quality is great on photos, but on standard text document printing the print quality is poor - I've now hooked my old HP G85 back up to the PC so that I can just print any old stuff without additional lines...

Not the quickest to set up but none the less very straight forward. Very handy having the separate tray for the standard photo size. Separate ink cartridges give better prints and are straight forward to install. The wireless set up was a breeze and is now connected so to speak to all my pc's and laptops. The ADF makes document scanning easy and quicker. The built in media slots and little viewer are handy when your friends and relatives call.
-
The ink cartridge are on the small side but this can be worked round. Not as fast as you would expect but for the home use fast enough. Quite large and a little noisy. Beware of the transit ink it makes the first few pictures poor but they do improve. A lot of icons generated requiring a folder on your desktop.

The print quality is photo standard (unusual in an all in one), connecting to the wireless network was easy.

This comes with an automatic two sided printing module already fitted which is great for saving paper by printing on both sides of the page without having to turn the paper over and put it back in again but there are DRIVER ISSUES which mean windows pops up a message saying the unit isn't fitted even though it is, but still prints on both sides if you click print rather than cancel (only relevant if you select two sided printing in the printer options page - single sided / photo printing is unaffected)

Small foot print, inexpensive, lots of features and v good print quality (photo sized prints are excellent).

Scanner software element v poor as it produces massive files (ie a simple b&w invoice at over 0.5Mb which on other devices would be about 120kb). HP say it's a known issue. After being away and having to install another HP printer on my laptop, I returned to some major problems with the C7280 printer not working properly at all (very very slow printing to the point it was taking 10 mins to do one small job). Had to uninstall every HP printer on my system and clean registry then re-install newly downloaded HP C7280 software. It could have been an MS XP patch causing probs (which happened in the past on another HP printer) but there are, I was told, sometimes issues with conflicts with other HP printers being installed on the same pc. The software doesn't seem to know if has a duplex unit either which is irritating and it always questions you if you want double sided printing. Setting up the wireless element hasn't been easy either as it scans and cannot find the printer on the network in set up. That said, it's pretty good and my colleagues, who also have the same printer for their working at home haven't complained.

Print quality excellent (but see bad points). Multiple ways to connect to network. Easy but lengthy initial driver installation/configuration.
-
Crucially it often does not print the last line or two of Excel or Word documents (maybe others too). Apparently a known problem that renders the printer virtually useless.Copy of photograph results in different colours from original. Photocopying much slower than I had expected. Frequent paper jams. Often feeds paper at an angle. The default installation set up the wireless configuration with a dynamic IP address which meant that when switched on again (and got a different IP address from the router's DHCP server) it could not be seen by PCs on the network resulting in a lengthy process of reinstalling the printer.

The best feature of this printer is that it has wireless compatibility so you don't have the hassle of lots of annoying wires cluttering up your workspace. The printer is also quite big so it is a lot more practical to put it somewhere away from your computer and use the wireless capability. The downside to this, as with any wireless network, is that when the network is down then obviously yoru printer is down. However, you can still use the copier, the fax and the scan-to-device which is very handy even when the network is preventing you from printing directly from your computer. The photo print quality is very very good and is a very strong feature if you need to regularly print out your digital photos - it really encourages you to do your own digital photo prints.
-
I'd say the biggest downside is that the machine overall can be quite slow. If you need a speedy machine for a home office I would not go for this machine, however if its something that you don't mind working at a leisurely pace then its a very good option. A little on the pricey side but I am hoping that it will last me longer as I've paid that little bit extra.

Having read negative reviews i was in two minds whether to purchase this printer, but decided to. I am so pleased i did, the printer is fantastic, easy to set up on wireless and the print quality is suberb, even from the scanner/copier (if you buy this try copying a photo) The ease of printing on both sides of the paper is also a great advantage and paper saving. All in all a brilliant littler machine well worth the money, and the ink is cheap too!!

Duplex printing, WiFi, Cabled LAN, USB, Quality operating system, easy to use fax, scanner, printer. Excellent drivers, very well supported on Mac, works well with Airport Base-Stations (of all ages - except exclusive draft-n). Ink's and paper not too expensive, though HP's very top spec paper recommended (the "Advanced" ((free sample)) is fine but detail is improved with the top-spec, obviously most costly paper).

When the printer is off, it's off. With a WiFi printer, I would have expected it to have a had a stand-by mode, all being off except for a low power consuming WiFi monitor however, it does enter a power-save-like mode when switched on and left for some time, I would liked to have seen a dedicated mode for Wireless printing with the printer, screen it's lights & LED's all off with just the WiFi card monitoring for print jobs, activating the rest of the printer on demand.

Wireless connectivity excellent.
Setup straightforward - printed, copied and faxed without a hitch. No issues with compatibility with my MacBook.
-
None yet - but hasn't had much use yet. Will need to wait and see how well the inks last.

Easy to use, so many functions! As expected for a HP, can't fault for quality and value for money.

We have the computer downstairs and the printer upstairs using a wireless connection. This can be a little tempremental and makes the starting of printing a little slow. However, this is obviously due to the wireless connection as well as the printer. Overall though it's still great!

I connected this wirelessly to my iMac. It was a doddle and i was printing within minutes. The document feeder is excellent for scanning multiple documents and the quality of scanned images and print is very good indeed.

Like all printers the price of the consumables is high, although the C7280 does have 6 separate cartidges that can be replaced independently if a colour runs out

Printing from the computer seems to be more difficult than from a memory card directly placed in the printer. The latter gives more printing options.
