Value for money, especially considering the inclusion of an LCD, card reader and CD/DVD tray. The printer is very easy to set up and use and the overall build quality is reasonable.
The way the scanner lid fits to the base of the machine is a bit flakey - the lid easily pops off if you place something thick on the glass. It pops back easily, too, but it shouldn't pop off in the first place. I was surprised the printer did not have individual cartidges for each colour - the single 3-colour cartridge will never produce the same quality as 6 separate colours and it's more expensive to run, too. This printer should not be claiming to be a photo-printer in the same way a 6-ink machine can. The scanner is very noisy in operation - so much so that at first I thought it was faulty. Scanned images have an annoying pink cast which no amount of fiddling can get rid of and there are not sufficient facilities in the interface to correct it at source. This machine is no good at all for really accurate colour reproduction. Perhaps my biggest hate is the software, which is appallingly limited, particularly on the scanner side. The interface is spartan and cannot even be persuaded to remember your last settings.Over the years HP software has become increasingly bloated and intrusive and unfortunately this seems to apply to all their printers, not just this one. It is certainly the single factor which will tempt me to look at other manufacturers in the future. To sum up, the C-5820 purports to be a photo printer and it's not up the the job in several areas. If you want a well built all-in-one machine for office graphics without being too bothered about accurate colour reproduction then it does the job well and is reasonable value for money, but in that case HP might as well have left off the LCD and card reader and trimmed ££ of the price.

Good value for 4800dpi scanner with colour printer
Unstable software for multiple document scanning to pdf. HP cannot resolve the problem, even though it's known to them for years.

The product is quite straightforward to use and the print quality is very good on all aspectsof printing.
The only thing I would say was bad is the size of the printer as, due to it being a 3 in 1 printer it is quite bulky.

Very versatile, easy to use, great to print without having to use a PC
High running costs as HP cartirdges are about the most expensive around, contain very little ink and compatibles can't be found.

It's 'all-in-one' - It prints onto CD's - XD/MS/SD/CF capability
Comes with Photosmart Premier & Essential which like to 'overule' any preferred, chosen photo system (I prefer to choose my own photo storage system, not have one thrust upon me every time I want to copy/scan/download) Removal of 'Back-door' to accommodate CD Tray then replace to run normal paper is a bind - Lot of hassle for 2 inches of space Fiddly little plastic things at the rear (by the rollers) which are supposed to 'feed' the paper through the system but tend to come loose if anything other than normal paper (card/labels etc) is used -

The product was excellent value for money and made a great Christmas present.
It did not have a USB cable - you'd think there should be one considering the amount of money spent on the printer, and to expect customers to buy one seperately is a bit cheeky!

Good quality printing
The software is a nightmare and requires a lot of tweaking to make it work smoothly. I had to go to HP for online assistance three times.

it is a good size to have in a home office and does all the things that you would generally need
still playing around with it a little at the moment. It has some facilities that I dont need and need to try and take them off such as web page printing and I need to suss out how you stop this and allow it to cut and paste. had to disable virus software to load the software properly

Good quality build, easy to install and operate.
Prints a little slowly. Ink that is supplied with printer doesn't last long.

the printer is good value for money , texts are really clear and photos are good as long as you use hp paper other wise the quality can deteriate also quality is poor if you use non hp printer cartridge eg takes longer to dry . another good point is the ability to print onto cd ,i print one of my holiday photos on the front and i know straight away what cd it is .
the colour is awful what happened to the nice blue/grey ones (psc2355 model) ? the printer is a lot bigger than my old one even though they are similar in spec except for the cd printing. the price hp charge for their cartriges are way over other brands.

Good value you get a lot for your money easy to set up if you follow the instructions I have always had epson printers and the way they print is very different but not a problem if as I say you follow the HP set up guide you can't go wrong really
The replacement cartridges are a little on the expensive side but you do get a choice of buying the standard ones or what the call the XL one which contain 3 times the ink. The thing I felt that let it down was the software that came with it to print on CD/DVD's it very basic but not to worry I use the Aqustica CD/DVD label maker which allows you to print directley on to CD/DVD's and the variations are endless a brilliant program.

The printer is very fast great when you need to make a quick copy without needing to switch the computer on,very good photo quality I think its better than the one with 6 cartridges as its easy t pop in the photo cartridge or the grey cartridge for B&W printing which I use allot
Poor software hard to change print settings and not all programs work smoothly with MAC

It does everything it should do and the print quality is good and easy to use. I had a really old printer prior to this so in comparison this printer is fantastic and smaller, though still fairly big. It can printer different types of prints - such as dvd covers, photos etc and has seperate feeds for this.
The paperfeed can be intermittent at times, sometimes it says it has a paperjam when there isn't one. I haven't printed a large document yet, but I can see that being a problem. And it does make a lot of noise when it starts to print.

Suits me fine for the printing I have undertaken at the moment. Haven't used a lot of the functions yet, but photos and CD labels are a definite bonus.

This printer is very easy to use with a clear display built into the printer for printing photos direct from a memory card. The main benefit is that it has the ablity to print direct onto CD's and has a seperate bay for photo paper. Great overall and offers quality prints.
This would be better if it had Wifi built in to allow you to print without wires.

This is my second purchase of a HP all in one Printer. My first was a 1300 series now passed on to a relative and going strong. The C 5280 is far superior and much faster . I also find the printing of photographs much easier and superior in quality
I might be in a better find these as time goes by. With any printer I do not find the replacement of a cartridge the easiest of tasks to perform

Great, very happy with it. Also just found a button which generates and prints random mazes for you to solve. A completely useless but quite fun function!
It does stress that it will not work with non-hp (i.e. cheaper) incartriges. if this turns out to be ture it's gonna be a bit expensive to refill the ink

Instead of having a separate scanner I now have both scanner and printer in one. I like the pop up menu on the printer and also being able to print photos direct from my digital camera SD Card. I like the print quality of Hewlett Packard and the fact that it is a Standalone printer and I can scan and print without having the computer on.
I haven't found any yet. Hopefully I will have the same good service with this machine as I did with my six year old one, which I have now sold.
