Hotpoint WML520 reviews: Front Loading loading, 6kg capacity washing machine

+ looks nice

- Very long cycles, cant seem to do a quick wash quickly! Quite complicated cycles, still not sure which to use when want a quick wash at low temp.
No low 20 degree temperature only 30 or cold

+ Good design / features

- smells when first used

+ Very Quite. Reliability of name. Lots of features to accomodate different types of loads and fabrics.

- I need to keep refering to manuel to understand which setting is best for my load.

+ Cheap, good quality and does the job

- Cycle time is long as it does not take in hot water

+ Machine fits well in my kitchen and blends in with the kitchen units. I have just washed my lined lounge curtains on a silk wash and was very pleased with the result. As the drum is a good size the curtains easily fitted in and the programe I chose on the machine meant that the curtains didn't crease and the linings or the curtains didn't srink

- my old Hotpoint took hot or cold water. As I have a Combi boiler the water was always taken from the hot tap which meant less time in heating up.

+ The machine is very quiet to my previous. Looks nice. Very easy to use not complicated at all.

- The washine programmes are longer than my other machine. You can't tell how long is left of the programme.

+ Quiet. Fast cycle times on fast wash. Side opening drawer.

- Long cycles on full wash.

+ 1) Low noise levels even on 1200 rpm spin. 2) Large drum with big door, 3) Clothes don't tangle, 4) Cold wash cycles, 5) It tooks good,nice slope at top of front panel.6) Fast wash and low load options 7)Clothes are very clean!

- Could do with black dot on the raised indicator on the control knobs for the spin speed and temperature. Suggest they be more positive - can easily move off selected position, especially when wiping across top of machine.

- did not really understand the installation manual

- Far too short cold feed pipe. At only 1.2m would need to be standing along side of mains water feed to be useful.

- Can be a bit noisey, but thats about it

+ Has lost of settings where you casn seleict the temperature you want, the spin off speed and the cold wash eco is brilliant at getting clothes clean.

Plenty of choice when picking cycles - you can virtually make your own up!

- See above - bit too much choice with too many dials to check for "other half"!!!

+ lots of programme choice, minimal noise, ease of use, really happy with cleanliness of clothes

- if you do something on a quick wash you can't spin as fast so comes out wetter, cycle times in some cases rather long

+ does use as much water as old machine

- none,except cycles now numbered,more dials to alter.

+ Washes well. Good choice of cycles. Spin is good - does not leave clothes wet. Very easy to use it is quite quiet compared to our old machine. Brilliant machine for price.

- the machine is great the start/pause button is a problem as if you gently lean on the machine or knock the button it stops. also if i dont use fabric conditioner the cycle pause's untill the button is pressed again

+ Easy to use. Cycles are easy to understand. Eco friendly with cold water cycles. Programme indicators to show progress of cycle and indicates when cycle is complete. Large drum. Fairly quiet in operation.

- Uses about 60 litres of water per cycle. Our water bill has increased by 60% since the machine was installed!

+ The cycles times and the type of cloth to be washed are directly indicated. Ease of use or simple to use. We can vary the cycle times. No need for hot water. Less hose to use. Anyway it will just ruin the cloths.

- Well, the old machine that we have which is also hotpoint has an extra safety feature added. Aside from the glass panel on the front there was extra "perspex dome" to be used as a safety in case the glass breaks, water will not spill out of the machine. The "fins" inside drum or barrel (with holes) in the old hotpoint is completely "metal pressed." The new one has tough "fiber glass plastic fins." I prefer to have it wholly in metal. Well that's technology for you... in an economic sense.
