+ My last washing machine was also a Hotpoint and it went on for years! This one is just a more up to date model.

- Such a wide variety of washes where you have to select the temperature and spin speed yourself. You do need to have the instruction book with you at the start but you soon get used to setting the machine up for the type of wash you require.

+ Easy to use. Lots of programmes. Can alter temperature of a programme if required. Lots of extras, mini load, reduced creases etc

- Symbols on machine do not correspond to washing instruction labels in clothes, for example if a garment says 40 degrees and has two lines under it, it would be really helpful if this symbol appeared on the washing machine as well so that you were sure that the correct programme had been choosen.

+ It's quiet, efficient and uses a lot less water than expected, even on a standard cycle. The progress lights show exactly where the cycle is and considering it is a basic model it's got a lot of different features that mean I can wash practically everything I own in the machine and hand washing of items such as silk blouses is now a thing of the past. I'm very pleased with the model and glad that I didn't spend unnecessary money on a higher level model.

- Compared to my older model the cycle times take much longer.

- Cycle times are far too long when, like me, you have a family and are usually doing more than one load. Also, noisy.

- sometimes i have pressed the on/off button in error and the start/stop button begins to flash but there is no way you can stop this from flashing as it is expecting you to start a wash.
If i spin only using cycle B i have to continue to the end, no way of stopping it before the end.
I have had a wash finish with stains still on clothes and they were not heavy stains to begin with.

It is easy to tell what part of the wash programme you are at.
There are a number of different wash cycles as well as spin cycles to choose from.
The eco fast wash only takes 30 min and leaves clothes clean and fresh.
My last washing machine was a hotpoint and it was very reliable so that helped me in my choice of what brand to buy.
The washing machine is a lot quieter when in use than my old.

- The eco spin cycle is only at 800 which isn't a problem as such. If I need a higher spin cycle then this I use the spin programme on its own afterwards. It is still faster than a normal wash.

+ We bought this washer to replace our old Hotpoint washing machine which unfortunately was too expensive to repair. We stayed with Hotpoint because of the reliability of our old one.

- Lack of choice in colours. We were hoping to buy one the same colour as our old one so that it would blend in with our Hotpoint tumble dryer.

+ I am delighted with this washer in particular the qay in which you can "tailor-make" yoiur washing cycle. I like the qay you can select your own temperature for washing, the spin of your choice for the garments you are washing and just the fact that all these choices are manually optional.

- The machine is quite heavy, so assistance maybe required when moving.

- there is only the one wash which has a short "everyday" cycle, and this happens to be the eco-wash. I should like more varieties of short wash, with perhaps 40 degrees and 30-35 minutes. I should also like a spin with these short everyday washes which extracts more water, as I live in a flat and have some problems with damp washing hanging about.
