The cooler cycle does seem to take ages to get the clothes dry and the hot cycle can be a bit too hot, so care has to be taken when selecting a cycle. I have already singed one of my tops. Had a spot of bother with it not drying in the beginning, contacted hotpoint who had an engineer out next day. Turns out the back panel had been damaged with assembly and was therefore not keeping the ventilation pipe in place. This was replaced and now working great

Excellent build quality of product, lots of indicator lights and time remaining display - so you can view the status of drying cycle from a distance. Has large access door. It's easy to clean filter, as it is at the front of the drum and not the back. It has the option of program modes, or it can be used manually with 2 variable heat settings and variable drying time. It's a perfect match with the Hotpoint WT761G washer and they both operate great and look well in 'graphite'.
-
I also purchased the equivalent Hotpoint washing machine and they are stacked, as per the old set. Unfortunately, the outlet for the drier is at the bottom of the machine and not near the top, like the old Hoover dryer it replaced (perhaps all Hotpoint outlets are positioned here - I don't know). This means the outlet goes 'uphill' to the aperture in the wall, rather than downwards, as recommended. However, it still works great!

The cycle times are very short with a good sensor, it's a very quiet machine, big drum size for large loads, and I especially like the digital timer that tells you how long the cycle has left.
-
I sometimes find the cycle actually finishes too quickly and the clothes aren't entirely dry, even using the highest setting for getting cotton "cupboard dry" so I have to put it onto another cycle. However, the second cycle really is very brief as the sensor kicks in quickly and the clothes do come out very dry in the end.

The timer dial is only divided into 30 minute intervals, a real drawback when you want to set your drying time to make ironing easier. The alternative is to use the three automatic cycles , 'ready to iron', 'hanger dry' and 'cupboard dry.' These apparently use a sensor to adjust the cycle times but in my opinion they don't work at all - even the shortest cycle dries stuff hard with permanent creases. It seems like the technology fails to deliver the pretty simply aim of having different drying cycles.

Clever piece of equipment, automatically varies drying time to either ironing ready, hanger dry or cupboard ready. It does this well and therefore reduces power consumption.
-
Has a fiddly fluff filter which allows fluff to fall into the body of the machine when it is removed for cleaning. The vent it falls into is inaccessible to clean. This will eventually lead to the need for a strip down clean, addition drying time being needed, or eventual failure of the unit.

The machine has a sensor which identifies when your washing is dry to the level required (ironing dry, hanging dry & cupboard dry), plus preset times (30 mins, 60 mins) which makes it easier to use and also saves electricity as the machine will stop when it's dry. I didnt realise this at first and was a little concerned as the dry time pre-set is 1.55 ... but generally runs for 50 minutes!
-
The sensor does not always pick up when everything is dry - in my experience, most things will be dry but one or two items will remain damp. However, I have found that if you remove the dry items, you can generally put the machine on again and it'll run for maybe a further 20 minutes and it's finished.
