Hotpoint RFA52 Reviews: Tall, White fridge freezer

+ value for money slim

- the design of the freezer shelves and drawers are bad as they slope at the back allowing storage to be limited compared to if they were flat.

+ Slim design fits smaller unit width than the usual 600mm. Freezerr compartment is good size. Silver is a nice alternative finish to stainless steel and doesn't mark.

- Fridge capacity is a little small for a 4+ family

+ Does exactly what I expected, no fancy gadgets etc but is a cracking fridge. Also one of the best narrow fridges we could find and looks good.

- Nothing major - the ice cube trays are a tad tricky but they work just fine when you get used to them.

+ Plenty space in both fridge and freezer,been a retired butcher iknow the importince of this and how well it keeps a very steady temperature.

- Do not like the idea of ice cubes situated in drawer tops.

+ I chose it because it was Hotpoint, it had a good energy rating and it was the right size for my kitchen . My electricity costs are high at the best of times and I needed a product that would not add to this.

Not too noisy, good layout inside

+ adequate storage, four drawers in freezer. fridge on top half is good.

- freezer drawers seem a little bulky so although four drawers they are a little on small side.

- Only two shelves supplied (not including the one covering the salad bins) which was disappointing - the previous Hotpoint fridgefreezer I had was supplied with 3 (plus the salad bin cover).
Doors very stiff to open (I hope they will get better with use)
Egg holder only holds 6 eggs, and the shelf space inside the door would be better if it was adjustable - my sauce bottles don't fit on the shelves properly now. Also the lift up cover on the top shelf (for cheese, butter etc) is VERY difficult to open - there's nowhere to grip properly.
However, these are all minor niggles, and it may just be a case of getting used to a new fridge-freezer. Overall I am pleased with my purchase.

+ Keeps to food cold as a fridge should and very quick at freezing new food put in freezer. has enough room for a family of three (with teenage son) and reversible doors very handy when the wife has a change round

- slightly noisy but you dont watch tele in teh ktchen/dining room do you? could do with one more shelf and ice cube packson top of doors are very hard to get ice out of, buy ice cube bags its easier

+ Good cooling - we have it on a very low setting and it is cold enough. Door shelves easily big enough for large milk cartons.

- Had a problem with the freezer when something caught on the top and we took hours to get the drawer open so be careful not to overfill them.

- The back looks very flimsy - and the top - but you don't see these so it doesn't really matter. The stablising legs would be better if you could adjust both left and right (the option is for only one to adjust).

+ This is a great fridge/freezer. It is my 1st upright one and I am thrilled with it. I have a bad back and it`s wonderful not having to bend down all the time.

+ Loads of room for the dimensions, it fits in to a pretty small space. Its also a very reasonable price for a fridge freezer of this size.

- The ice cube trays dont work very well. i havent had it long enough to be able to see if it has any effect on my electricity bill cant work out how to defrost the freezer with out turning the whole thing off

- the legs that it stands on are not good, difficult to get it striaght

+ WITH 4 DRAWERS IN THE FREEZER, ITS IDEAL FOR THE LARGER FAMILY. THE IDEA OF STORING THE ICE-CUBE TRAYS IN THE DRAWER FRONTS IS GREAT, BECAUSE IT FREES SPACE IN THE REST OF THE FREEZER.

- Although four drawers in freezer, they are rather shallow.

+ Good size and good interior design

- Reversing the doors was NOT as easy as was made out. It involved two people and the use of an electric drill to open produce the fixing holes. Also the blanking plugs for the removed centre hinge were not included in the pack.

+ the last fridgefreezer i had had plastic shelves that broke so glass shelves are great. The 2 salad drawers are good because you can separate salad and veg.

- One of the reason i opted for this model was beacause I wanted 4 freezer drawers but in actual fact the drawers are quite narrow and not that deep so maybe 3 would have been better.

- The ice cube freezer things that fit on the freezer drawers should have been see-through so you could see how much you are filling them too!!! Design mistake I think!!!!!

+ Really good value - one of the cheapest models on the market, but it more than rivals its more expensive counterparts. Well built and nicely styled.

- Capacity is a little disappointing for the size of the appliance (especially in the freezer). Sometimes the motor is a little loud.

+ Good finish, very quiet and cools very quickly. Remember to turn the 'fast cool' stuff off after initially filling it or the back plate will freeze up (some running without the option on returns system to normal in a few hours).

+ Says what it does on the box. Its just what we needed, a good size - not too big, not too small. Really good value for the price.

- Bit of frosting on the inside back of the fridge which built up as soon as we swtiched it on. it doesnt appear to be getting worse so we are not worried

+ Excellent value for the price. I bought this for a one bedroom flat that will house singles or couples and the amount of space is very good. It is quiet too.

- Had a little trouble changing the door over to open on the other side but managed it eventually. The build is not perfect but for the price I am happy.

+ It fits into smaller spaces without any problems and still has quite a good capacity for it's size.

- Not quite as deep as I would have liked, unable to fit a 2 litre bottle of fizzy in lengthways, it has to be in sideways. The bottom freezer drawer is quite small & difficult to get things into without removing it completely.
