Hotpoint FF187E Reviews: Frost Free, Tall, Multi fridge freezer

+ Good storage capacity, especially the fridge. Will take full size 2litre drinks bottles in the door compartment (our old one wouldn't). Individual controls for the fridge and the freezer. Holiday mode for when you are away. Warning light/beep when the door has been open too long. The ice making compartments in the top of the freezer drawers are a very good idea.

- Sometimes a bit noisy. You need to be careful that the salad drawers are completely shut as they can hinder the door closing. There was a small crack at the back of one of the fridge shelves when we got it.

+ Plenty of room in both sections, good solid structure with easy to access shelves. Quiet.

- Don't feel the wine rack is necessary, but you can remove it.

+ Neat and sleek looking. Good range of shelves for ample storage. Two fresh food sections in fridge.

- Height between shelves a bit short.

- We wanted to reverse the doors and doing this was a major task! Also the power lead could do with being a bit longer.

- The door storage is not flexible; the 'beep' that tells you the door is open begins after only a minute or so ... which is fine if you have left the door open accidentally .. but darned annoying when filling/emptying/reorganising/cleaning the fridge .. my previous, 15 year old fridge had a weighted door which used to shut itself and had no need for an annoying beep .. the light is easily blocked so the fridge is not well lit; the ice cube trays in the freezer drawers seem like a good idea but they are messy to fill and difficult to unfill; not sure how - but there seems to be less space in this fridge than my old one

- The containers in the side door are too narrow...and not high enough you can't fit a bottle of wine in with out resting it on its side. The old design you could get 6 can's in the side, you ca't do that now. Also there is an extra shelf above the wine rack and now the spaces between the shelves is not big enough to fit in bottles and jars etc. As it is frost free it also sticks out much more than the old one so doesn't fit into our space as well and we can't opent he door. Really really liked the old design of our freezer but I HATE this new one.

- This fridge freezer would not fit in a tight run of units as the door takes up extra room as it opens. Not a problem where we have it but one to be aware of.
The light is not very bright and is easily obscured by food on shelf. Side fitting would be better.

+ Very good capacity - find the fridge holds quite an amount of food.

- With is being frost free - is sometimes noisy.

+ All round this product is great value for money and is a lovely addition to my kitchen.

- The wine rack takes up too much space, I thought it was a good thing when purchasing, maybe if it was only for two bottles it would be better

+ Realy good fridge freezer

- Have to open fridge door to be able to fully open the first drawer in the freezer

+ Huge fridge capacity. Feels very sturdy. Door compartments feel stronger than rivals. Ice cube racks a good design feature. The outside looks very sleak and modern.

- We didn't have any need for the wine rack supplied. Shelves can only be adjusted slightly in height.

- Build quality not as good as we would like. Freezer drawers shoot out without stopping and one has already broken.

+ Hotpoint FF187 EG (Graphite) - Stylish design, adequate capacity, innovative ice cube makers in freezer drawer handles, bottle racks are very useful for space saving. Graphite looks far better than the standard white unit.

- None to worry about to date, although some protective film,which should have noticed by final inspection, was left on the door frames.

- Door not staying fully open for access.Shelving positions not very practical.placement of bottle rack does not allow bottles without having to remove a door shelf.pain to remove ice cubes due to non flexable storage containers.

+ Very stylish looking, well thought out inside, I especially liked the wine rack and the extra deep door shelf and the built in ice cube trays in the freezer.

- I have noticed that vegetables in the drawers at the bottom of the fridge freeze, I have turned the fridge down as low as I can but it is still doing it.'
The Freezer drawers could have been a little bigger.

- The capacity in the actual freezer department was alot smaller than anticipated.

+ Good door seals. Door-open warning. Plenty of shelf space. Better refidgerator chilling system. Rapid cooling.

- Dim light in refridgerator. Door shelves too shallow. Cover on top shelf useless, as it cannot open or close fully when tallish items placed at back or front of shelf. Drawers in freezer compartment not large enough from front to back.

+ Looks great, loads of room, its quiet

- The vegetable drawers can be a bit fussy about closing properly which can lead to the door not being shut properly. The alarm which lets you know you've left the door open too long only functions if the door is wide open not if you've just got a large bottle or similar holding it slightly ajar. Minor gripes though

+ Its a really nice looking fridge with good freezer space. Fruit and veg compartments are nice and deep.

- Because the fridge is self defrosting it makes some funny noises! It sounds like chunks of ice falling and can be quite noisy! The bottle rack looks good but actually takes up a lot of room. There is not enough room for all the shelves but it is handy to have one as a spare.

- The freezer draws are not very deep, have trouble fitting in a large pizza!

- Freezer drawers do not open very well, depth of drawers not very good from fron to back of freezer not deepness of drawers. Light in fridge is virtually useless once you have goods in there, light is not bright enough or big enough.

+ Good space in fridge, wine rack is great.

- Water cube thingies are useless and fiddly - and on the eco setting the fridge and freezer both seem too cold!

+ Very sleek design and very attractive in appearance. Very good capacity. I particularly like the clever use of the ice trays in the freezer door.

- The reversible doors are a great idea, however in practice it is difficult to reverse the doors. The use of tools which are required ie. a power drill make it difficult to change the doors as does the weight of the doors and the build of the appliance. Not fot the faint hearted to attempt to reverse the doors!
Also the fact that the doors swing out when opened are not included in the measurements so this was slightly deceiving.

+ The storage room in the fridge is excellent and it is reasonably quiet overall

- the storage in the freezer is decieving the drawers do not pull forward enough to get things in and out easily
It tends to make a loud cracking noise when it switches back on

+ Tons of storage space in the fridge and generous with the number of shelves. Clever use of space with wine rack in fridge and ice cube trays in the fronts of the freezer drawers.

- Freezer drawers don't slide completely smoothly when they're loaded with food.

+ Even though we have a tiled floor in the kitchen the fridge seems to be very quiet. I was expecting it to be noiser considering the resinating effect of the floor tiles. It's more than adequately spaced in the refrigerator compartment and I love the fact it comes with the bottle rack. The fridge also reached optimal temperature very quickly. Super freeze features are good to have as well, overall very impressed.

- Although the fridge looks big on the outside the freezer compartments seem dissapointingly small. The walls seem very thick, and I'm assuming this is down to Hotpoint making an effort in order to keep the fridge as well insulated as possible. I also wish it would have come with a flat back as opposed to the old traditional grill on the back. I'm not 100% sure if there's a fault on mine in particular but the interior light seems very dim to me.

+ Functions are really good,easy to understand the mechanism.
Looks more expensive than it was,a really nice addition to my new kitchen.

- Doors don't shut / stay shut easily. Often find that the doors are still open even when they have been swung close.

- light not very bright inside fridge, very bulky, it sticks out alot further than our other fridge/freezer

+ it has lots of storage space, really like the super cool and super freeze features, and especially like the warning signal that tells you the fridge is open, really handy when you have a small child who likes being independent, getting things from the fridge by themselves, then leaving the fridge door open, bless her! the matt finish on the exterior is really nice too.

+ The ice cube tray is a neat idea and space saving. The wine rack is also usefull and well positioned to create more space. The frost free technology means its maintenance free also

- On the inside of the fridge door the rubber that holds in you milk bottles etc. keeps falling off.
Freezer isn't quite as big as what I thought.

+ It has a great bottle rack and plenty of fridge space, especially in the door. The holiday setting is great for energy efficiency and as the vents are at the back there is extra storage space on the top.

- The freezer drawers are a bit limited in size and the strip that fits on the shelf in the door to stop things rattling has never stayed in place

- the wine rack takes up quite a bit of space so you cant get much under it..but that is only a minor fault.

+ Everything stays ultra cool in the fridge even on the eco friendly setting. Amazing. Wine rack is annoying to remove or put back in so if you want the wine rack in leave it in. If not then throw it away as you can fit more bottles of wine in the fridge when it's not in.

- The only bad thing I can think of is if you leave the veg drawers slightly open then the fridge door will not close fully.

+ Looks great and offers good value for money. Overall the build quality is great and there's not much wasted space.

- Can be noisy at times. Occasionally (once or twice a day) we hear cracking noises - I'm fairly certain this is anti-frost system getting rid of condensed water.

- An absolute nightmare to change the doors round, instructions very poor!

+ Audible warning when door is left open to long. Ajustable shelf's, easy to clean. Good feet ajustment for stability. Wheels at rear for easy movement. Quite pleasant looking when sited in dinng area.

- A second condiment tray is needed in the door. Fridge/freezer motor tends to be noisey. More information required in operation manual for setting the controls, when setting to recommended as per manual on first level the vegatbles tend to ice up in hydrator, so I have to set to Holiday setting to eleveate problem.

+ Lots of sensibly designed storage room in this fridge freezer, for bottles small and large items and ice cubes.

- It is quite imposing and does dominate the kitchen a bit, but that's what you get when with a bigger fridge freezer.

- The motot can on occasions be noisy, hotpoint engineer called to investigate, apparently this is normal!
Shelves can be difficult to put back in once taken out.

- The light in the Fridge is not very bright compared to the previous hotpint fridge freezer i had, in this model it is only a very dim glow. Don't know whether this is the same for all new hotpoint models.
