Hotpoint BD32 Electric Double Oven Reviews

+ Dials are easy to read and easy to use. It heats up quickly. Good even cooking without buring the outside. Glass in doors can be remove dfor cleaning.

- Can't think of anything I would term bad.

+ buttons push in so are flush with unit. Lovely brown smoked glass. I'm tall 6 ft 2 " so appreciate the grill being at the top rather than the bottom. My wife also prefers this as our previous built in had the grill at the bottom ( not our choice inherited with the house). A really efficient oven and the top oven warms plates for free when the botom oven is in use!

- before you use the oven you have to use the oven without food for about 2 hours to seal the non stick side teflon coating (claim being a non cleaning ovem :-) ) However the smell during this process was unbearable. Had to evacuate the house. At least this was a one off exercise.

+ Smooth plain good lines.

- Timer setting does not stay on the display so you can't see how long to go to the end of the cooking time without touching the clock button. We found this annoying for timing when to start cooking other foods (veg etc) on a hob or in the microwave.
The white finish is a bit off white-cream

- dials are very smooth and tend to slip in your hand when trying to turn them. Could do with a rougher or indented edge to allow the hand to grip.
an option on colour for all black, rather than with a white edge would have been good.

We were looking for a product to fit in an existing enclosure and matched our kitchen furniture and was easy to use with featurer that were essential only ie no frills... This was ideal and the price was right

Easy to keep clean.
Top oven convenient for cooking small dishes instead of using main oven.
Top oven useful for warming plates when main oven is being used. (Main oven is a good size for family cooking).

- Sales literature does not make it clear that there is a minute minder on this model. I was really pleased to find it did have one. This may put people off of buying this product.
When first using the ovens on full setting (as stated in the instructions) to burn off the smell - it really does SMELL!!!

- Seems to take longer to reach operating temperature than previuos oven but this does not really concern me that much

+ It`s got everything I need it`s easy to operate all the right features very smart looking and I`m glad I chose this model

+ Both ovens have the advantage of being able to set an exact temperature rather then clicking at intervals of 25 degrees. The grill has a half setting of you only want to use half the area. The top oven (grill) is at eye height making easier to see the progress of toast and also usefull when turned off and using the main bottom oven as a plate warmer as the heat below travels up.

+ A great buy.. very easy to use and operates well.
Very good value for money.
The one flaw is the design of the shelves.
There is no protection guard when remvoing hot food from the oven.
This could prove dangerous as the containers could fly out of the oven.

- Very slow to heat up...both oven and grill! Lower oven - noisy fan!

+ Good looks. Available in brown. Satin steel handles enhance product looks. Nice touch controls.

- Grill cooks unevenly. No temporary stops on oven shelves when removing dishes from the oven or grill. How this can comply with health and safety standards I don't know. I can see accidents awaiting to happen, however many other manufacturers are the same.

+ It fitted in the space I had left by my old gas oven that was condemed.
As I already had a cooker box it was very easy to wire up I am an experienced electrician.
It looks smart and has more controls than most homes need and the first roast my wife did in the cooker was absolutely ace best cooked meat in ages and the yorkies beat Aunt bessies just how they should be light and fluffy and a little crispy. Could not have wished for a better cooker than this.

+ Easy to use. The door cooling fan is brilliant & the design very attractive.

- Bread baked in the top oven rises more at the back but a lop sided loaf looks cool. P,s, still experimenting.

+ We are very pleased with our new oven. It warms up quickly, is easy to operate and cooks as it should.

- The only slightly bad point I can think of is the operating controls feel a little flimsy and I am not sure that
they will last as long as the rest of the oven.

- Bought the oven because the previous one (17 year old Creda) was cooking unevenly and fan getting noisy. Unfortunately the new Hotpoint oven is also cooking the food unevenly. Can anyone help to explain why?

+ Heats up very quick and the tempreture is accurate. Split element in the grill means you can have one side on. A good energy saving feature.

- Whilst the oven fan was almost silent for the first few days, it has now started to vibrate. Not sure how bad this wil get. I can live with it as it is.

+ Attractive looking oven. Can put the grill on to heat one side only if you are only grilling a few things.
Overall I like this product a lot.

The oven shelves are a lot less sturdy than my previous oven...I hope they stand up to the weight of a turkey at Christmas!
