Hoover VHD842 reviews: Front Loading loading, 8kg capacity washing machine

+ Takes a really good load of washing and has actually reduced the loads that I do. My clothes are nearly dry when they come out because of the fast spin

+ It's a fantastic washing machine. There isn't anything we don't like about it so far. It's big enough for our family of 5 - we still have to wash every day, but because of the very efficient spin speeds, we don't have to use the drier for as long. It's very user friendly, and we haven't had any problems at all in learning how to use it.

- No bad points at all. Even the price was very reasonable.

+ easy to use, does what it ways on the tin - washes well. excellent low heat, short daily wash cycle.

need to manually reduce the temp setting for some of the cycles. not really a bad point, just a point.

+ The 15 minute wash cycle is extremely useful -in fact that was the reason I puchased the machine. There is also a 45 minute cycle and a 59 minute cycle. These are the only wash cycles I have used at the moment. You can also see how long (in quarter hour markers) your washing has left which is quite handy.

- It would be nice if you could adjust the spin speed for the 15 minute and 45 minute cycle. The top spin speed is only 800 and to get the washing drier you have to then put it on a 1400 cycle spin which seems a waste of time and obviously makes the cycle longer.

+ Good range of features, easy to use once read instructions a couple of times, economical.

- Important features, e.g time saver button, how to change default temperature could be highlighted more in instruction book.

+ has quick wash facility and can do daily loads in 44 mins, i do like the time delay so that you can wash during cheaper electricity.

- it says for an 8kg load it should take 3 hours , however ive been washing full loads on 44mins and found its fine - i dont have time to wait 3 hours for a wash.

+ There is a large variety of cycles, with one only taking just over 1 hour and it still washes as well as the longer cycles. As I always choose energy efficent products, this reduced wash time is also environmentally better as it isn't taking as long. You are able to alter the temperature and spin speeds on a wash and it washes the clothes brilliantly.

- It states that the reduced cycle is 59 minutes, whereas in fact it is closer to 80 minutes.

- Some instructions slightly confusing but the pros outweigh the cons

+ it's perfect for my family, I now have a 15 min wash which is ideal for summer school uniform. It's great for those emergency washes. It has lots of programmes which i probably won't use, but i think that happens with everyone. The 8kg load is great for a weeks worth of wash and saves me having to waste water and washing liquid during the week. The machine is very simple to use.

- Had a problem with the waste disposal but after sitting there for a few hours managed to get it sorted, it's higher than the manufactures recommend but at least it's not spilling out now. I had my old machine (Ariston) for over 15 years, have now been told that this will last approx 5 years. I think it's ridiculous that they are not built to last. It would be better for the environment if we didn't have to scrap the machines so frequently.

+ I really like the large drum size, and the spin speed too. My previous washing machine was 11 years old, and I think its fair to say that washing machines have improved massively!

- Its a bit noisier than I'd anticipated but its a marked improvement on the Hotpoint model I had before.

+ easy to use, wide variety of programmes and you can change the temperature and spin speed to suit yourself. I love the settings dial, it just clicks on the programme you want- no guessing if you have turned it far enough for the spin or rinse.

+ Being able to do a really quick wash in 14 minutes is excellent, along with the ability to change temperature and spin speeds

- The plastic draw and some of the buttons appear a little flimsy

+ I chose it for the range of wash programmes. (The short daily ones for freshening lightly soiled garments are good.) and because I wanted a bigger drum that would be easy to load with a door that opens right back. I'm very satisfied with its overall performance so far.

- It's definitely a bit noisier than the one I had before but in a big house it isn't a problem. Maybe in a flat it would be annoying. I'm used to it. If I need to clean the filter, I think that might be a nuisance. Our previous machine had that on the front.

spin speed at 1400 better than one i had at 1600 clothes much dryer i have a large family and get my washing done quicker and more economically with the 8 kg load ' and the 15 min quick wash is great for freshening clothes that are't really that dirty

Takes larger loads

- Couldn't get a 5.5 tog duvet in the machine - too bulky
Don't like 3 hour washing cycles! I like to do several loads in one day so have to use shorter ones all the time.
