Hoover TC 5238 DUST MANAGER PETS & STAIRS Reviews: , Cylinder, Bagless Vacuum cleaner

+ Good suction (everyday tools) & easy to move about.

- Casing broken already (used the tool rack built in for temporary storage of suction pipe / head tool during use as per instruction book. Part of the vacuums' cover completely broke off, the hoover fell over & whacked my 5 year old on the head.) It's unstable.
The crevice nozzle doesn't stay on the hook on the suction pipe provided for carrying it about / storage, it constantly falls off & gets left behind.
The crevice nozzle tool is too wide to actually fit a reasonable distance into any tight corners ie: crevices!
You have to BUY a soft furnishing / dusting bristled brush direct from Hoover themselves - about £15 ON TOP of the already high price for the original product in the first place. An insult!
The Hoover still stinks when used - even after all of this time / 6-7 uses. (It is not my main vacuum).
The pet hair brush doesn't work - the principle of the idea is good, but it touches the surface of my sofa & the hair removal bristles stop rotating so that it picks up nothing at all.
It'll never last as long as, or be as good as my Turbopower Hoover from the early 1990s which it was bought to replace as it has only just now gone bang. The quality of Hoover products & design (must have been done by a man!) have clearly gone severely downhill from then.

- So much power and it still couldn't lift dog hairs even using the special tool, very flimsy plastic on some parts. (returned and replaced with a Dyson!)

+ Easy to empty dust container. Suction O.K. on hard floors.

- Suction poor on carpet. Would benefit from having more tools.

- The vacum sounds good when reading the decription but its rubbish had to take is back. It overheats and picks up like your old hoover your trying to replace and the hepa filter doesnt even fit i tried for ages and gave up it shouldnt be that hard. GET AN ELECTROLEUX THEY REALLY SUCK IN A GOOD WAY

+ It has an extension hose to save lugging hoover up the stairs.

- Could do with a brush adapter.

- Terrible to pull around, the suction is useless on carpet and its heavy.

+ Extremely easy for cleaning stairs with the longer length hose.

- Specifically bought it for cleaning up cat hairs - and it really does not pick them up. Also bought up for high suction power and that is not brilliant either.

+ light weight can be used on stairs without having to sit the cleaner half way up the stairs

- when emptying the plastic clips can be broken very easily

+ Extendable hose is very handy when cleaning the stairs.

- Cartrigde needs emptying a lot and the hinges on it broke the second time I opened it.

+ the extendable hose is a brilliant design

- red light that is meant to mean filters are blocked or too full is constantly on, I have been told to wash filters which I do regularly but even after doing both it still stays red. It sometimes cuts out and you have to wait for it to cool down for an hour or so before it'll work again. I have already had to call an engineer out but it doesn't seem to be any better. I was very disappointed as it was recommended to me and it looks and sounds great, unless i just have a duff one!

- Heavy, cumbersome and so is very difficult to use

+ nothing

- does not pick up pet hair unless other tool is on - so that you have to keep swapping the tool heads over. Badly designed dust collector is hard to put back on after emptying

+ The extendable hose is useful

- Although the motor is high powered the hoover doesn't pick up very well and the filter clogs so often that I have resorted to using bags!
