Hoover VHD862 reviews: Front Loading loading, 8kg capacity washing machine

+ Superb quality of wash with all the options you could possibly want - almost bewildering variety.
The large drum has made out washing chore much easier.

- Signs of sloppy finish: control knob tight, filter access does not align with metal opening, plastic floor does not fit the design of the base.

+ Wide load, 1600 spin, tells you how long left on cycle.

- Does not state what is a normal cycle and what should regularly be used for a 40 oC cycle.

+ ease of use and do like the larger capacity.

- takes a long time for a full programme wash.

+ Good build quality and choice of programmes. Cycle times can be long, but can be shortened if needed. BIg capacity is the best point.

- Low tech display, very poor ergonomics on main control knob, Hoovers own wash descriptions.

+ Huge drum. Lots of useful programs that are easy to customize.... For example, you can select the 59 min wash, then tweak the temperature or spin speed at the touch of a button. It's not overly complex. All the functions are there for a reason.... not to bump up the price.

+ It is very easy to use, very quiet and what I like most is that you can choose what spin cycle and temperature you want. I really like the 14 minute and 44 minute programmes.

+ Wash results are very good (the stain buster cycle is realy good), Washing comes out much dryer then before and requires less time in the tumble dryer. Drum size is massive.

- The daily wash cycle of 45 minutes requires an additional spin to get clothes reasonably dry

+ Drum size is huge, lots of different programs, extremely versatile - you can alter spin speed and temperature to suit. Very efficient, senses when load is small and reduces water accordingly. On full spin, clothes are practically dry. I could go on all day - this is a fantastic machine and the best decision I ever made!

+ This is a great washing machine, the door opens really wide and it has a massive drum size. The quick wash is brilliant although the spin speed for the quick wash is set at 800 so after it finishes I turn the dial and respin at 1600, this process takes about 17 mins so still really quick, great for kids who wear something for 10 mins then put it in the washing basket. I mainly use the 59 min wash as this has variable temp and spin speed, but there are plenty of programes to choose from. I am very happy with this purchase.

- WHY WHY WHY do HOOVER think you need a 2 min delay to open the door when the program has finished? I would like the spin speed to be variable on all programes.

+ 15 minute cycle is fantastic, and the 8kg drum size takes virtually any item. 1600 spin makes sure items are very dry to use less drier time. When our son was sick on his cuddly toy we had it washed and dried in just over 30 minutes.

+ I have had Hoover washing machines over the past 15 years. The new one has replaced a model that my mother purchased in 1985 (one or two simple replacement parts have been made during its life time).
I love the new model it is so quiet and so easy to use. I like having the choice of spin speeds and I really believe it does wash better than my old one.

- Some of the washing programs take a long time - why would anyone use a washing program that last nearly 3 hours?

+ Excellent machine - takes large load and has very fast spin. Also has wide range of wash cycles and cycle times from 15 mins to 3 hours!! I would highly recommend this machine to busy people with lots of washing!!!

- Took a while to work out how long the cycle takes for each different wash programme - instructions do not help much with this.

+ The washer is easy to use, dials are labeled well and programs are set quickly. The unit size is good as it fits under the worktop better than my previous washer (a Hotpoint) . The drum size is really good. This was the main point why I got this one. I recon that after 2 months of having it I had been able to do half the number of loads previously in the same time period due to the size of the drum. This means I have used and spent half as much on detergents and softners thus another cost saving.

- Allthough it is alot quieter than my previous washer I wish it had the base plate with it as the Zannusi modles have to make it quieter . I expected that this modle came with this as stated in the setup leaflet that came with it but on enquiring with customer services apparently this modle has just stopped being supplied with one- I feel cheated as quietness was another consideration for picking this modle. Can I get one and fit it ?????. I have been told it is the same as a Zannusi, I would really appreciate it if this was possible..
