I purchased 2 of these torches, Both as gifts.
One for a friend who lives in a log cabin in the mountains in the U.S.A It is very isolated, not even on a road & she has no power for quite long periods of time when it is stormy. She was thrilled with the torch secure in the knowledge that if you shake it, you have light! simple!
The other for a friend with fuse problems, she keeps hers at the top of the stairs so she can find her way into the cellar to change the fuses.

- when you shake the torch, you have to put on the hand strap otherwise it just whacks your hand when you shake the torch

+ I have had this torch for three months, and it has not even needed recharging yet. The light it gives is bright and stong. It has a strong design, with no parts that will easily break. It also has a handy cord for hanging it up. I did recharge it recently before it needed it, just to see how well this works (by shaking it for 30 secs) and it was very simple to do and recharged the torch to full capacity. For this money, this torch certainly can't be beaten. I was fed up with all my torches being flat when I needed to use them, now I never need to worry about that again.

+ Made good gifts & the recipients were happy to have them (we bought 2) to keep in cars or similar places you might need torch every now & then. All in all very happy with the product & will probabaly purchase more!

+ Does exactly what it says on the tin - you shake it, it works!
- Could be a little more aesthetically pleasing, although I realise that it's a torch and not a display in the Tate Gallery. It isn't fancy but it does what it needs to do.

also claims it needs 30 secs shake for 5 mins light but lasted over half an hour (switched it off)
it really is excellent - GET ONE
- it's a torch, it's functional so for entertainment/fun it has to recieve zero

+ No need to buy any more expensive batteries that only last a few days before they start to weaken and give off poor light. The torch is light and bright and also a handy size. I found out that luckily it is also waterproof. and a good wank of the torch and it's beaming bright!

In the winter months I have to walk through pitch black countryside, with this torch I don't have to worry about making sure that batteries are ok or using it in a downpour.
Holds it charge surprisingly well and requires very little shacking before using.
Due to the transparent design of the casing acts very well as a indirect (marker) light source as the light shines through the torch body.
- There's not really much to fault about this torch considering its price range, the only 2 points I could see being raised as an issue are: 1) It's LED based and if you're not familiar with the technology you'll need to accept theres a trade off with brightness for power consumption - that's just LEDs for you and not reflective of the torch. 2) Whilst the transparent design comes in handy (see plus points) in very dark situations the light "leakage" from the body actually works against the torch so I found I needed to hold it down to my side and behind my field of vision.
