+ The machine is easy to use and quality of the finished product is brilliant. I have been up grading very old family VCRs to DVDs. The difference is outstanding. Picture quality looks better now than the original.

+ Operation is fairly intuitive, and, after the first trials I was able almost to dispense with the manual. This said, the manual is comprehensive and well laid out. The picture and sound quality are both excellent, and I would recommend this to anyone wanting to transfer VHS recordings to DVD (I suppose it's possible to do the reverse, but that seems a bit pointless these days.) Using it as a set-top box with my analogue TV, I found the programme guide very helpful.

- Front panel displays could be clearer. They're OK, but you need to be very near the set to read them. It's a pity there isn't a volume control on the machine or the remote - it means that you have to have two remotes handy all the time you're viewing. These are minor grumbles, though, and shouldn't put anyone off buying this excellent machine.

+ Needed video and DVD and was really pleased to get Freeview facility as well. Brilliant that we can now copy all the children's favourite videos!

- Didn't find the freeview too easy to use at first but soon got used to it. No real bad points at all.
