Score 9.0/10+ Solid build, easy menus once you get the hang of them. The in-built help menus are clear and comprehensive. In the main ergonomic button positions and easy to change with your eye still at the eye piece. Fast reviewing especially with the face finder to check exposure and focus quickly before the crowd gets bored. Fast start up, from review to re-take at the touch of a button.
- A bigger step up from a compact digital camera than expected for the Fuji range, which is actually no bad thing.

Great portraits. Great sensor, better than the D80 which was my previous camera.
Takes Nikon lenses and is I think easy to use. Robust too being made from a a strong yet light alloy.
- Somewhat bulky, but not too bad.

Based on the body of Nikon's D200, which means it accepts a wide range of compatible lenses, the 12Mp Fujifilm S5 Pro is Fuji's only digital SLR camera. It comes highly recommended.

UPDATED:
Fujifilm is delighted to announce that its acclaimed FinePix S5 Pro digital SLR has been named ‘European Advanced Camera of the Year 2007-2008’ at this year’s prestigious European Imaging and Sound Association (EISA) awards.
EISA explained the camera’s success with the following commendations: “The special qualities of Fujifilm’s Super CCD SR Pro sensor provide the wide dynamic range, low image noise and contrast control that make the camera stand out from the general DSLR market. Fujifilm has used a rugged body, faster processing, more flexible shooting methods, improved autofocus and advanced flash metering modes. Ultimately, though, it is the S5 Pro’s ability to reproduce a massive range of tones that makes it the winner of this category.”
