As an octogenarian I was able to ddigest the instructions albeit a bit slowly but the end result was very satisfactory - clear pictures from clolour transparencies more than 50 years old and with more than a little fungus from Africa days

Does exactly as I need it to do. All my slides which I took for 20 years so precious of my children and late family members safely stored on to cd. All film and black & white photos scanned and saved, Saved pounds doing it myself with the easy correcting mode. Cannot praise it highly enough.

I have had my slides in a draw for years but I can have a look at them now with the click of a button.

copy 4 slides in one go does take a long time, would be better if epson made it so that you scanned 12-16 slides in one go.

Exceptionally easy to install and operate from the moment it was connected. Scanning of printed material and photographs - both coloured and black and white - has been simple and has given excellent results. Have not yet scanned any negatives but can foresee no problems.
The equipment offers several levels of scanning but have only used those which I have required for the excercise in hand. The facility to scan several photographs at one time and obtain individual reproductions without having to utilise the 'crop' facility speeds up the process substantially, as compared with my previous scanner. An excellent purchase.

This provides me with the means to scan old magazine articles, films & slides and to archive them easily. The price is a good compromise of image quality Vs use. It is also built to the same quality as my Epson printer.
-
The film / slide carrier is a bit flimsy and looks like it could break with more than minimal use so I would be concerned as to wether I could obtain a replacement easily and cheaply.

The power and USB sockets in the bottom right corner are bad design. There are cable channels to manage the cables up to the top where they belong but this just highlights that the sockets are in the wrong place. Also the ferrite core on one cable will easily pull it out of the channel unless it is supported.

No problems with the software. Brilliant scan quality. Better than the scanners at college and the local library! Smooth case - easy to keep clean with a damp cloth.
I wonder if the competitor's scanner design, which takes it's power from the computer's power source might not be a good thing for the computer?
-

Very easy to set up and works on Vista x64 unlike some scanners. Scanned about 1,000 old photos (colour and B&W) with excellent results. When coping a number of photos at one time, this equipment will, if required, automatically crop and reproduce individual copies, which saves a considerable amount of time. Not used the OCR yet, but expect it will provide great results.
