Dyson DC24

+ I purchased this Dyson in December 2008. It is light weight, easy to move around furniture, easy to carry easy to store away due to very compact size. Has good suction for a low power motor. Picks up dirt very easily and doesn't blow it away like my old vacuum cleaner did ( Electrolux Airstream). Overall I find it much easier to manouvre than the larger model, which I tried out in the store, especially around furniture

- Cable not very long so have to change sockets a couple of times. Because the suction is so good the waste container does fill up quickly ( I need to empty it every second or third time). Plastic casing does not feel very robust but time will tell. Extension hose not very long but the Dyson is so light it is very easy to carry upstairs or to lift while cleaning ceiling, tops of curtains etc. Additional hose attachments have to be purchased separately but the hose attachment that comes with the machine has been adequate for most jobs.

- the telescopic wand could have done with being longer so as to be able to clean stairs properly.

- This product lost its suction after only 2 weeks. It looks bigger than it actually is and has an extremely low capacity. You have to empty the product far to often due to its low capacity. The lead is also far too short and does not reach around the complete room having to change plug sockets due to the poor length of lead.

+ I have a small house where the furniture is close together so this Dyson is perfect. It is light, easy to manoeuver and the head is flat so it reaches under furniture such as the coffee tables (saves having to move them). I probably wouldn't recommend it to people with larger houses as the bin is quite small but for smaller houses this is not a problem. For a small vacuum it is very powerful and I have seen it lifting the carpet in places.

- I don't find the hose and attachment very easy to use and tend not to bother as the vacuum reaches most places anyway.

- Short hose, still not easy on stairs

+ Easy to use. Light and compact but with good performance. Best vacuum around. If you have a bad back or mobility problems then the DC-24 is a must. More expensive than other vacuums but definately worth the money. Great purchase. My mum is also getting one.

- If you have a big house with pets then it will need emptying often, you might be better with the bigger version. I have 3 bed house with no pets so is not a problem for me.

+ It is light weight and smaller than a standard dyson, so easy to store away and carry up and down stairs.

- The filter is rather small, so needs emptying regularly. Also the attachments can be quite fiddley to put together.

+ Lightweight and easy to use. It's easy to move around to all corners and easy to put away when you've finished with it. Good suction, gets up all the bits off the carpet. No dustbags needed either.

- The cable isn't long enough - that said I don't mind unplugging the product to do my cleaning. Apart from this, I like the product.

+ I bought this product because it's light enough to carry up the stairs easily and because I can push it around with one hand while holding my young baby with the other arm. The ball design means that it gets into some tight corners and it also sucks up dirt that is quite close to the skirting boards.

- The cable isn't very long and I have to keep unplugging it to move from room to room. The on / off button sometimes doesn't work very well and I have to push it a number of times.

+ Wonderful light machine which is so easy to use. Especially good if you have a shoulder or back problem as it just glides along with out any efffort.

- The lead could be a little longer as you have to keep unplugging it quite alot. It also has to be emptied quite regularly as it is a smaller machine being so light.

+ It s lightweight go round corners under beds anywhere you need it to go it will.

- the only bad point is the bag needs emptying more often but thats just me being lazy.

+ Excellent product, already recommending it to friends & family, light and easy to use, am elderly so it is my homecare workers who use it, they all love it.

+ Small enough and light enough for my disabled mother in law to handle. Despite initial doubts the suction is as strong as larger models.

- The hose could be a bit longer, but it is light enough to leave on a step half way up the stairs.

+ Really lightweight to push considering strength of suction. Very easy to manoeuvre in tight spaces. I like the drop-down handle for storage and no messy old bags to change. Also the ready to use wand.

- I find the the foot lever for releasing the handle a little difficult to get used to, but I'm over 70!

- theyve made it lighter by decreasing the cylinder capacity! so for those with a big house to clean, u will have to empty it more often

I have to used two seperate socket in my living room as the cable is not long enough on off switch dont work every time, the dirt bucket is very small all in all the price I have paid for this machine I could have bought any brand of vac far better value for money But I bought my dyson on past reputation having had 3 previos mupperight models

+ It's the best vacuum I have used for a long time. I have three other makes which I have sold since buying this Dyson. What more can I say.

- The dust collector emptying arrangement is a bit flimsy. It would be nice if it could have a retractable cable devise designed into it.

+ In view of a constant back problem I purchased this machine because of its low weight and easy to manoeuvre. In this respect I amd very pleased with same.

- The ball is a bit large to fit under some furniture. I am aware that the dust collector is a little small but to me this is an advantage because I like to empty it after use, especially as we have two dogs.

Impossible to get under much of our furniture due to the 'ball'.
The arrangement of the hose and fitment to get under sofas or vacuum spiders off the ceiling is little more than a nuisance, awkward and annoying.
The central mesh blocks up with fluff and thus defeats Dyson's claims

+ It was quite easy to put together, and compared to my old hoover, the stuff thats its picked up off my carpet is amasing. You think your carpets clean! Not till you've used this!

- The power button really needs pressing in when you want to turn it on or off but thats not really a bad point, im just being picky

- Hose pipe not very long, only one attachment which is a little wide for those slim areas you may need to get to.

+ small size means it's really easy to store in the cupboard. this convenience means that i'm much more likely to hoover! it's light and mavouverable. it's v easy to empty. the suction seems to be amazing. feel like it's really deep cleaning our carpets. just great that the tools are 'on board'. simple and easy to use. i'm really pleased with it.

- this doesn't put me off. but worthy of note. because of the size of the 'ball part', I cannot push the vacuum under our bed (which is a low bed). i was able to do this with my last hoover (a vorwerk)

+ Its light, small but has all the suction power of a big cleaner. It is so versatile, and easy to manovere, and can be used on so many different types of flooring. reduces allergens and dust mites So easy to empty , and to store. Its a fantastic cleaner, especially for its price

+ Only vacuum cleaner on the market that didn't weigh a ton and cost a fortune. Lives up to it's publicity easy to maneuver light to lift. Easy to empty the 'bag' don't know about the filters haven't got round to cleaning those at present. On the whole very pleased, vacuuming the carpets not the chore it used to be.

- I have small rooms so its not bad but does need to be emptied after no more than 2 carpets wouldn't reccomend this model if you have large rooms of carpets. The hose could be longer dosen't do more than about 6 stairs so from a safety angle not too good, have to do the job holding onto the cleaner to do the rest of the stairs.
