+ Dyson swapped the DC14 all floors for a DC18 after I complained about the noise level. The DC18 is a far better machine all round.

- 1) Far too noisey. When operated indoors the whistle from the cyclone distorts your hearing.
2) Using the hose attachment is a bit of a bind.

- Tools fall off easiler that old designs, the extension rod is awkward, unlike old models this needs to be fully extended to use where as you could pull the old style out half way and still be able to use it.

+ Vert efficient on all floor types. Variety of added tools make it suitable to use on curtains ,furniture,car etc.
although it is not the "Animal" model, I find that it picks up pet hair well. I have 3 dogs !

- Rather large and cumbersome, I find it is not easy to use on the stairs even with the extending hose.

+ Previously had a powerful bagless cleaner from another manufacturer but it simply lost suction as the filert clogged. The Dyson on the other hand appears to live up to all the hype and doesn't lose suction. The beater bar helps to lift dirt and dust easily from the carpet.

- The Dyson is so effective that the dirt chamber needed emptying after running over what we thought was a clean hall way carpet! Other than that we have not found any bad points yet (although I have heard that the plastic is easily broken!?)

- The suck is so good, it makes using the hose difficult
No switch on the handle
No lever at the back of the bottom of the vacuum cleaner to 'break' the cleaner

+ Dust container easy to empty and cleaning performance very good. Extra-long flex is useful in a large house.

- Small tools keep falling off the handle. Attachments take a while to affix.

The flex is longer which is good for doing a few rooms using the one socket.

+ This machine replaced afive year old Dyson which was still in perfect working order. Just thought we would buy a newer model which we are delighted with. Many new improvements on old model. Completely satisfied with Dyson, if you use another make you realise how good they are.
