- Adjusting between upright mode and using the tools can be a bit fiddly, especially when taking parts on and off the hose.

- The extension pipe for brushes etc is bit diifciult to get out and I wonder if the plastic casing on the pipe will break.

+ It's still very new, so a bit early to comment really I guess. The suction is good and it is good at picking up pet hair, which is why I bought it.

- When using the hose etc for doing the stairs, it is pretty useless, only good as an upright.

+ Very good for picking up animal hair, as I have 2 cats and a dog. The turbo head is ideal for getting hair off furniture.

- It is a little heavy to operate to begin with ...... especially compared with the previous model I had, but after a short while you adjust and its not an issue anymore.

+ The incredible suction power ( not just on carpets ) is the most amazing I have ever come across. It's removal capabilities of household dirt & pet hairs is truley stunning. I like the quick release dirt bin with its trigger mechanism for dispelling dust and dirt into a refuse sack or bin, exactly where you want it to go. the whole machine is very easy to dis-assemble for cleaning purposes.

- The wand and hose are sometime difficult to use, especially when reaching up or out ( curtains & stair cases ) and a couple of times, the machine has tipped over. The suction head can't get into carpet / floor areas where there are projecting doors on low cupboards or get really close to skirting boards. Extra time is needed with extension tools to make a thorough job.

+ This hoover is so strong - my carpets have never been so clean! We have a black haired dog so it was so important to get a hoover which could pick up all the hairs without too much effort - this definately does the trick.

- It is slightly heavy and awkward to lift but please don't let this put you off!!

+ Strong vacuum, although it is inclined to whistle: this the cat does not like. Easy to empty the dust canister.

- Attachment hose is a bit ackward to use on a regular basis.

+ Fantastic suction particularly good with animal hair, it does what it says on the tin!

- It is fairly heavy and the worst bit (which is the same with all dyson vacuums) is that you have to fully undo the cord to unattach the nozzle which is frustrating if you just quickly want to use the nozzle attachment.

+ The ability to pick up animal hair is wonderful! I hovered my car, and it's the one and only hoover I've used which actually got my car hair free.
Emptying the bin is made more simple with the touch of a button the bottom opens, so no more seperating the bin to empty, you can hold the entire bin in a carrier, then press the button, and hey presto no dust flying back up at you:-)
The added turbo brush works a treat too.

- Getting used to the wand took a few days, each time I thought I'd got it, it didn't work, then suddenly it would, and I'd no idea what I'd done. But once mastered it's now easy.
Not sure what difference the carpet control switch makes, I can't say as I've noticed any diffence to be honest.

- It is a little heavy but the good bits out weight this small problem. I'm still getting to grips with the extendable hose as they've change the design since my last Dyson, it's a little fiddly.

+ Very efficient as what its supposed to do. I think I would always buy a dyson now.

- This is the second dyson I have had. The first one I found easier to get to grips with the tools, especially the extending arm. In this DC14 I find the extending arm often comes right out and sometimes won't go back easily and I'm unable to get to the top of my stairs quite as well with my old one.

+ Powerfull suction. Turbo tool is amazing on furniture and stair carpets. Being able to turn the brush bar off so it dosn't eat the door mat!

+ Much lighter than older model, easier to use on hard floors. Seems to glide much more easily over all floors in general. Otherwise very similar to old model, therefore very easy to get used to!

- Stair tool confusing, but ok once you get used to using it. Very different to put together and get out etc than the old model!

+ At last, a vacuum cleaner which really does suck up animal hairs, and you can see what it has vacuumed as well.
So easy to empty.

- Rather cumbersome pole - not really a 'ladies' machine.

Haven't yet needed to use the 'turbo' brush to pick up cat hairs, as the main hoover and hose are doing a good job. Price wise it can seem expensive but we've probably spent this twice over on other models in the past five years which have been passed onto the scrap man.

- Hose/handle - find this a bit cumbersome and unweildy at times, eg for cleaning sofa crevices, curtains etc, but ok for doing stairs, skirtings, ceilings (cobwebs!). Also, can be difficult to get it to stretch to the top of the staircase - need to use a lot of strength to get it there!

+ Much lighter to carry than my other model, and I like the way the tools all fit onto the unit - very clever.

- Still find using the hose a bit difficult as it doesn't stretch out very well.

+ I had my old Dyson for about 4 years and whith daily use and a lot of decorating dust bits started to wear out, so I got the dyson animal as i have a dog, and i must say its well worth the money, the suction is very good it picks up the pet hair no problem.
