iRobot has introduced its smartest most powerful and efficient vacuuming robots yet, the new Roomba 500 series vacuum cleaning robots. Based on customer feedback from more than 2 million buyers since Roomba"s introduction nearly five years ago this flagship home robot is more robust, more powerful and with sophisticated features has further raised the IQ of home care.

Using wireless technology Roomba knows when it has finished cleaning one room and moves onto the next. Including two Virtual Wall Lighthouses™Roomba 560 these help orient Roomba via radio frequency communications and guide Roomba systematically through the home. Once Roomba is finished or its battery is running low the Lighthouses direct Roomba to its Home base to dock and recharge.

Roomba 560 also includes an on board scheduling function so it can be programmed to automatically clean up seven days a week, even when nobody is there.

Cleans in more places than ordinary *vacuum cleaners. No more thick dust under difficult to pull out furniture. Roomba"s compact shape enables it to clean under beds, into dusty corners, under tables and any other furniture that is at least 10cm high.

How does Roomba work?

As it moves Roomba"s rotating edge brush picks up dirt and debris from corners and along walls, sending it into the main cleaning path. Two counter rotating brushes then pick up all in it"s path. A high efficiency squeegee vacuum collects all fine dirt and debris leaving the floors completely clean. A filter, traps dirt and prevents fine particles escaping.

All Roomba 500 series include iRobot"s patented three stage cleaning system that automatically adjusts to effectively clean carpets and hard floors. Roomba"s intelligent cleaning system evaluates its environment more than 60 times per second so the robot is always delivering the right amount of cleaning power to your floor.

How does Roomba know where to go?

Because it uses specially designed cleaning behaviours to decide. Roomba will switch between spiralling to cover open floors spaces and wall following to clean edges and criss crossing the room. All the while it will use its non-marking bumper to feel for furniture and obstacles and move around them. This bag less vacuum cleaner has a stair avoidance detector and a non-marking wall bumper. An infrared wall unit can contain Roomba in a given area if required.
