- On three occasions, playing a CD has caused a horrible distorted sound. Stopping and restarting has solved it. I am monitoring the situation and if it continues or gets worse, it will be replaced. This is likely an individual problem and should not detract from the unit itself which is fantastic.

+ I'm not qualified to seriously comment on the sound quality and I'm sure it's not perfect but at the price I think it's brilliant. I bought the matching speakers at the same time and even though they're small they sound great to my uneducated ears. I particularly like the way it handles a USB stick, I find I use this a lot in preference to loading a CD.

Radio receiver is easy to set up and good quality.
Sound quality is overall very good.

- Difference in input levels means volume levels when playing music from the iPod are much higher than for other types of source, which can scare the cat if you switch inputs without adjusting the volume first.
Could do with an optical input port.
Sound can be a bit bass dominant if you are not directly in front of the speakers.
Aerial wiring is a bit naff.

+ Product appears built to last with sturdy metal. Comprehensive manual. CD, DAB and FM Radio give excellent sound. Inputs for external sources at the back allow me to attach an old tape deck and Mini - Disc player to the Unit. Speakers are also very good quality. This feels like a more expensive product all around.

- Not much. Remote control layout can be a bit confusing and requires the manual to be read properly. USB connection for MP3 players can be fussy about which players it will work with.

+ Excellent sound from a very compact unit - just what I was looking for. From classical music through to contemporary rock/pop the unit performs very well.

- The sound can have an over bearing bass level but adjusting the bass level removed most of this problem. From an astetic perspecitve the black wood effect speakers are a bit naff looking but they do produce a really good, full sound from very compact boxes.

+ The sound quality of this machine is outstanding. You can tell from when you're assembling it that the componants are pure quality. I have always wanted a Denon stereo and this one has all the high quality sound of a much bigger piece of kit.
Digital radio is incredible (Sounds like CD). If you are upgrading your stereo, look closeley at this. There are good reasons why it is an award winner.

- Black casing on speaker shows dust. That's how good the machine is as that's the only bad thing I can think of

+ I purchased this without the Kit speakers. Initially I had the unit connected to a set of Mission speakers but was not totally happy with the sound. I then paired it up with a pair of Rogers LS4's. Wow fab sound. the unit is very easy to setup, looks good and decent amount of volume on the unit.

- When changing from station to station on DAB its like its retuning rather than switching presets. other than that minor gribe no bad points

+ The USB port, it's easy to play downloads even when you don't have an iPod. Excellent sound quality. Doesn't take up too much room. Easy to set up and use.

- You can't set the wake up radio to be different at weekends it's either 'Once' or 'Everyday' so you need to remember to change it or turn it off to avoid being woken early! I don't like the click noise that comes from the main unit when you use the remote it makes it sound a bit rickety, but aparently that's a sign of a quality system according to my brother who's very into top quality hifis and sound quality etc

+ Not being a music buff, but appreciating good sound, this small machine sounds great - much better than my last system. Very pleased with it - now I have finally got it working!

- I had to ask someone else to connect all the fiddly wires as I could make head nor tails of it! I am not a 'silly little woman' and normally manage such jobs, but not this time! Also, whether it is just my tuner, I found getting the stations right a real hassle initially - the auto tuner did not do as it was supposed to! But got there in the end - with help - and now very pleased with it. Am concerned that the 'open' top of the box will collect dust and wreck things over time.... seems a strange design feature!
