Creative Zen V Plus 4GB

+ I don't have any experience of other MP3's or iPods so can't make comparisions but this one in particular is very good. Easy to use with a sound. Also sounds great through the speaker/docking station.

- Not enough docking station options but that's the same with all MP3 players. Had quite a few teething problems to start with. I had a Zen and I got one for my dad. Both froze a couple of times and I even had to take one back. Touch wood, all's well so far.

+ It is a good portable size and provides a great sound. The functions also support video and pictures which is an added bonus. It's really easy to use especially to transfer music onto the device. I love it!!

- There is limited volume range and can sound a little quiet

+ its really small in size, but fits quite a bit of music on. syncing music to it is also easy.

- the battery charge doesnt last that long, and there is no portable charger that comes with it. i had to buy one extra.

+ The joystick control is ... a joy to use. Uploading via the supplied software was straightforward, although I do not have any past experience to compare with. The FM radio actually works!

- Lack of control over screen brightness - like a lighthouse when the wife switches it on in the dead of night, invisible on a sunlit beach - but only a minor problem.

+ bought this product on a whim.after reading a excellent review in a hifi mag.amazed how good it sounds ,and how easy it is to operate.

+ Creative have really outdone themselves this time with a small easy to use mp3 player, packed with so many features I'm sure they defied the law of physics. Great for walking around and listening to audiobooks too, loud enough to make sure your deaf when your older this was definitely a good buy. This is still one of the few production mp3 players with a line in especially at 4GB. In this range I would definitely say it was at the top of its class.

- Its beginning to show a few functional bugs, like it pauses halfway between a song and needs to be paused and replayed but I work with a lot magnet a lot so that probably affected it. I would have preferred a mic input socket (it was hard enough to find a modern mp3 player with line in I accepted it.)

+ Small enough to use on a daily basis. Good battery life especially for long journeys in the car.

- The screen is a bit small so video playback is not a regularly used function.

- The menu and settings are not easy to use.

+ Menu system is easy to operate and makes track finding easy. Lots of features, can store/play video and photos as well as music, has a radio and can be used as portable computer memory.

- I'm not sue battery life is as good as I expected. Sound quality is good but no better than, say, a Nokia N95

- the battery life. you do not seem to get the battery life quoted in the manual. i would say it is about 15 to 20% lower than quoted.

- not good for creating playlists. not very clear on instructions of how to download music. did not have enough external usb ports on laptop to upload and register zen to my computer very annoying. when useing tape devise attatched to zen in car it keeps cutting out to the radio which is extremely annoying while driving
