- A bit slow compare to other computers and due to large screen size a bit on the low side of battery life.

+ The screen seems to be particularly good with sharp colours and with a correct resolution for its size (1600x900 = 17"). The fan switches on for only brief periods, suggesting that the hot air gets expelled quickly when the PC is under heavier loads. Works perfectly under Ubuntu Linux with no additional configuration or tweaking. 100BYtes/sec read rate from hard drive, 2302 geekbench points under Windows vista 32 bits.

- Battery is tiny and makes this a good semi-fixed PC, not a portable one. That's what I wanted in the first place, so no disappointment here.

+ Big, bright screen, full size keyboard, fast processor

- (all minor points really) headphone socket positioned on the front edge of the laptop, so if you're listening through headphones with the machine on your lap then the jack digs into you, volume controls layed out slightly strangely for my liking
