+ A bit heavier than its contemporaries and therefore steadier when filming by hand. A quality wide-angle lens is available for this camera.

+ Great picture quality, optical image stabilizer works great but not as good as digital image stabilizer

- No face detection. Battery life ok but you still need an extra one for a days picnic.

+ Fantastic image quality. Very easy to use. Just take time and learn how to use. Don't try and jump in too quick. It's well worth taking everything in before using. Everything falls to hand when operating. Don't know about editing yet, haven't tried. When trying the SD memory card in my television the quality of the picture was superb. Even better than I imagined it to be.

- Battery life, in standard battery, very poor. Bought a spare, high power battery, when I bought the camera. Would recommend you do this.

If a photo is taken at a slow shutter speed, or at a long focal length, the effects of ‘hand shake’ will be amplified. Some cameras come with built-in image stabilisation which is designed to act against this to produce sharper images. It’s great for low light shots without a tripod, like at a gig.
