+ Intuitive and easy to use but very different from point & shoot. High ISO performance is amazing. Great image quality with prime lenses.

- You'll be disappointed if you use a non-L zoom, you need prime lenses. Depth of field often incredibly shallow and automatic settings don't bring great results, you'll need to learn to use manual settings to get the most out of it so it will take time - you won't get perfect shots right out of the box. You'll be referring to the manual a lot.

+ Access to many functions has been improved and simplified ie Style, Information. Also quick access to change of ISO, white balance, metering leaving less to personal memory. Keeping same lens fitting (EF) is great. Solid feel gives confidence in structure.

- Can feel heavy after long session.

+ The camera itself is brilliant. The fps are brilliant and the 1.6 crop factor is great for that extra reach.

- The kit lens is horrible, save your money for a proper lens or buy second hand.

- Having opted for the kit with the 18-200 lens I was dissapointed to discover that the lens hood was
not included .This would be the first camera kit I have purchased that did not have a proper Brand hood.

SLR cameras use a prism to reflect the exact image as seen through the lens and so offers a more accurate viewfinder.
