+ Battery lasts forever, lightning quick, and great low light perfomrance.
- None, it really is a very mature product.
Upgraded from 300d and well worth the move. Should definitley be seen in a different league to the new 400d - MP aren't everything.

+ It's perfect, I couldn't be happier. The battery seems to last much longer than most; I have done 3 photoshoots without having to recharge the battery. The menus are straight forward and it has all the features necessary for a whole range of photographic requirements... I would recomend this camera to everyone and far more than I would the the 350D and 400D.
- Quite large, not suitable for quick snaps

+ Fantastic camera. Very fast.I love it.Feels like a 'real' camera, very solid construction.
- I need to save up for a good lens to do the camera justice

+ This product has excellent scope with numerous features and optional accessories for producing high quality exposures of a wide array of different style of various subjects.
- Takes a long time to understand and get to grips with, taking shots can take a lot of setup time.

Simon, Burton
+ It's good build quality, superb images, instant startup plus all the usual features we've come to expect from canon
- I'm used to a 300D and it feels a lot different to navigate the custom settings. Also it is pretty heavy.

+ speed of start ease of use
- no permanent iso on show

+ Solid build for automated wildlife photography. Separate flash socket (no hot shoe adapter needed). External shutter release connector. Excellent colour screen. (Lots of features I don't use)
- 3 f.p.s. can be limiting Not the quietist camera (but far from the worst). Actually, it hard to fault.

+ Good quality to weight ratio. Great features and good size LCD. Lots of frames per second.
- For enlarging or cropping 8 mega pixels does limit what you can do.

+ Very well built like all Canon cameras. I previously owned a 400D. The 30D is much easier for me to hold. I constantly, inadvertantly reset the iso setting with my thumb on 400D this can't happen with the 30D.

+ High spec and good build quality. It has a good array of features and the controls are easy to find. Comprehensive menu which is easy to navigate. The camera feels substantial in the hands without feeling bulky.
- Cannot fault it.

+ Good size display, excellent image quality, the overall weight and feel of the camera lets you know you are holding a good quality SLR. In automatic mode a child could not fail to take a decent picture.
- In some creative modes you can become a bit lost off with what all the dials do, but a quick look through the manual will put you back on track.

+ Fast and reliable workhorse, good battery life and extensive features makes the EOS30D a joy to use.

+ Build quality is excellent and the camera feels really substantial. Intuitive controls and if you are used to operating in manual mode they are mostly easy to figure out even without the manual. The camera is ready for action very quickly and the 17-85 lens focuses very sharply. The IS on the lens helps in low light situations. A good range of extra lenses is available which I am sure I'll get into at some point in the future.
- The 17-85 lens does sometimes show purple fringing in areas of high contrast e.g. tree branches against a fairly white sky.

+ Build quality, ease of use.
- Kit lens leaves a lot to be desired, but in view of the cost I really can't complain!

- Bit large but average for this type of digital slr

Mike, St Leonards
+ As you would expect with anything Canon it's fantastic, the build quality is spot on, no loose bits or things that just dont quite work. Mines been through the Sahara Desert, and always continues to do exactly what it says on the box.
- If I had more money I'd buy the 5D or if I won the lottery I'd buy the 1DS
27 Aug 2007
Craig, Southport
+ Fast, very fast compared to my old Pro-1, little noise at ISO's below 800 (even above, only slight noise present), range of lenses available
- Most have been addressed with the release of the 40D
30 Aug 2007
Jim, Chesterfield
+ Fantastic battery life - 1 charge lasted 2 weeks and over 1200 shots including lots of sports mode and downloads to the laptop. Speaking of which, the 5 shots per second can last up to 2.5 seconds for super photos. The software suite with the camera is also very good although it isn't a photoshop.
- Can't really think of anything except maybe a bit pricey and ocassionaly the autofocus goes a bit crazy -- but that's probably user error!

Compact and robust The EOS 5D's tough, compact magnesium alloy body weighs just 810 grams.

+ Very cheap when bought with camera as i have done but excellent quality for everyday pictures
- no macro

Joel, Wakefield
+ It's quite a flexible camera.
- The kit lens has poor glass, and it took four different tries before we found a 30D that didn't have dust caked on the CCD.

+ Simple to use and professional results with an ability to customise the camera to suit exactly your own style. This camera performs at the highest level whatever the subject matter.
- The exposure adjustment can occasionally be accidentally be activated without realising it.

+ large lcd screen increased reliability of shutter mecanisum. center back dial on back, third party lenses available, maganiesse body,
- small joy stick on back very fiddly and would prefare no joy sitck at all

Grant, Dartord
+ Although I am a beginner it is very easy to use out of the box with automatic functions to sort every need. There is a wealth of functions avaliable on this camera which means you have a wealth of new things to try when you move over to various manual modes.
- The camera is fairly heavy so lenses with image stabilisation would be a good idea although they can be expensive.
02 Oct 2007

+ Easy access to facilities. Good metering and a very good lens.
- Only 10 second timer, my G5 had a 2 second as well and I used it a lot. Really miss the live preview tilt and swivel screen of the G5 for wild flower photos but only Olympus slr has it at the moment.

+ Large LCD, comfortable solid handling and super-quick AI-Servo focusing
- very fiddly on / off switch

+ Great handling camera with plenty of great features for the discerning amatuer. Fantastic high ISO performance and image quality. The kit lens is an OK starter lens but to take advantage of the fantastic CMOS sensor, quality glass is recommended. I have the EF-S 17-55 f2.8 IS and EF 70-200 f4 IS which are ideal companions for walkabout. I also have some specialist primes for more creative shots. That's the big advantage of D-SLR
- None for the price
26 Jun 2007
David, Woking
+ quick response time & shot speed, comfortable & ergornomic to use, all round performer for the money
- lots of window's to navigate for image setting, not ease to chance shot peramitors between shoots, no need for portriat, landscape etc setting on the feature wheel, could be use for other setting such as monocrome!
