+ Simplicity, performance, quality, ease of use.

- The back screen is easily damaged and needs to have some form of protection. Whilst I'm very careful with the camera, I work in the field and have found that after the first assignment the back screen was damaged.

+ All the big features of the much more expensive cameras

- The problem with having a full digital sensor – is you get the Chromatic Aberation problems – Shooting RAW helps as you can remove this later

You can't go wrong with this cameras as a semi-proffesional piece of kit – but you must invest in the very best lens's to get the most out of it.

+ Very fast, very good pictures (generally)

- No built-in fill-flash. I find this a major issue - the argument about prism size being the reason is just lame. Other major gripe is that no matter how carefully you handle this body, the sensor always has dirty spots, which are particularly annoying as I take most of my shot with a large f-stop.

Genarally a very good camera, but unless you need the very large image size (not many people really do) or, as in my case, the need to take wide angle shots, a 20/30D or even the 350D is a better place to put your money.

+ My reasons for upgrading from 10D: spot metering, full-frame, higher megapixel count, better performance at high ISOs, faster speed overall.

- I have no use for the direct print button, seems like a waste of space. The metering seems very very sensitive, it takes some getting used to. The red tones are a bit extreme, I have learned to compensate for that.

I find no fault with this camera. It is the digital SLR I have been waiting for for 4 years!

+ The image quality and sharpness on the EOS 5D is stunning. The viewfinder is large and bright and the LCD monitor a good size.

- Tends to overexpose on evaluative metering though this can be compensated for.

An absolutely stunning camera! I would urge people who buy this camera to get a lens that does it justice though. It is only when I hooked it up to a Canon 'L' series lens that the quality was apparent.

+ The full-frame sensor, pin-point accuracy in focussing, heavy enough to hold securely and firmly (compared to my previous 350D), fast multiple shots, easy-to-use menu and great range of high-quality lenses.

- Can't use my EF-S lenses, but that's about it.

+ Solid build, easy to use and fantastic quality pictures. The L series lenses are worth the money

- Would like the option to write images to an SD card for backup - nothing else.

An excellent professional quality camera that is thankfully in a discrete body.

+ Speed, Image clarity, Full Frame, good colour and tonenal range. Many features and expandable. Feels like a proper camera in weight and size.

- Would like firmware modified to support lcd preview. Prefer viewfinder to have a greater dioptic correction range. Have to find a diaoptic to slot in to support the correction for my short sightedness.

+ Superb image quality, and excellent build quality. View finder is clear and bright

- Only 3fps which is a bit slow. Focus points are too clustered in the centre - set-up more for a small size sensor. Better spaced out in my 40D (& 20D)

+ Absolutely fantastic image quality.High ISO speeds give great results, it is brilliant in low light conditions. Relatively easy to use if you are upgrading from another Canon Camera. Very solidly built. LCD panel gives a lot of information which is easy to see, it is also very bright and clear for reviewing images. Live view is useful and the ability to use this remotely on a laptop is very valuable. The video (HD) is a bonus.

- Its quite big and bulky with the 24 - 105mm lens. Some of the features are not that well explained in the manual. Its a pity it doesn't have the facility to take the digital EF S lenses.

+ Excellent image quality, the ISM lens is fantastic allowing hand held images at much slower shutter speeds than you would ever think possible. Fast smooth action for focusing and no delay time between pressing the shutter and taking the picture. A real joy to use and whilst expensive, worth every penny.

- Would struggle to find any bad points, the Raw converter software isn't the greatest in the world but is more than adequate.

Highly recommend this camera and lens, for the serious amateur or Pro.

- If upgrading from a 300/350D you'll notice the weight difference and lack of built-in flash. Direct print button, why did they bother?
