+ Very simple to use, features adequate for my use as a very amateur photographer. Easy access to features. Love my camera look forward to learn as much as I can about all the features.
- Very disappointed with lense, in hindsight would have just bought the body and then purchaesed a good lense seperately, 70-300 for example. The viewer is rather small should have gone that little extra and bought the 400.

+ Very good price, easy to use. A good camera to try as a first SLR digital camera.
- Reviewer left no comment
Disappointed because in-store we were advised that the sigma lens from our old canon camera would fit this new one, but when we try to use it an error message appears.

- now superseeded by a newer model

+ Great value & quality.
- Some buttons can be caught quite easily by accident.

+ excellent performance generally, image quality very high, many good features and versatility, as small and light as could reasonably be expected. Battery life is amazing and spare batteries cheap.
- Finish a little cheap, quality of plastic poor, with a tendency to scratch easily, also dust on sensor from new! Controls a little too compact and can be fiddly, especially with large fingers. Kit lens is not the best and does limit the performance of the camera. The grip is not as good as it could be, it is a bit small and smooth and makes the camera easy to drop in some situations, especially with a larger lens. Default settings did not give the best image; it took some time and experience to get the results I expected.
Altogether good value for money and a good first step into serious digital photography.

+ The Canon 350D is a superb camera offering excellent photographs. The clarity is beyond any other camera I have found for the price, it is also very easy to use in full auto mode but can be set up to be used by a more expeienced photograher.

+ Fully specified D SLR, compitible with Canon lenses, flash guns etc. Instant on - no descernible shutter lag. Best spec. for the money at this time.
- Week points (not bad points really) are: LCD is small Viewfinder is small Max flsh sync is 250 (though HS sync works with Canon flash guns) no PC-sync - Canon claerly expect you to use their (expencive) wirless system for multiple flash. It's got 'Canon' printed on it so all your accessories cost more than they would with a non-Canon/Nikon.
I wanted to learn about SLR cameras, and this is a great camera for that perpose. It's capible of producing high quaility images and has some advanced features like 1600 ISO sensitiviy and busrt mode. For all that I have only needed to look in the manual twice. While the menu system hides away some things like mirror lockup and 2nd curtain sync (although they take less than a 2 secs to find) most common commands have shortcuts. So turn on - change ISO, set white balance takes about as long as it does to say.

+ Compact, light and yet with all the features of a much bigger camera
- Only had it a couple of months, but cant find any yet.
Great camera with all the features of a much more expencive model, with the style and quality only canon can give.

+ The image quality is supurb and with the different modes you can experiment and improve your technique and results.
- For people with large hands it can be a little awkward to hold but with the Battery Grip added it's brilliant.
Worth every penny.

+ easy to use lightweight camera with good quality images
- with lots of digital slr type camera's on the market price could be better
canon at its best great camera lots of easy to use features

Joanne, Longframlington
+ Very quick start up. The most frequently used features eg. ISO setting, metering and white balance have short cut button so that you don't have to scroll through the menu to change them. Good ergonomics - it fits nicely in the hand. Simple to use - it can be used straight out of the box. Battery life is excellent.
- Haven't found any yet. It is bulky but that is to be expected with an SLR.
This is my first digital SLR and I can't fault it. I would recommend it to anyone considering changing to a digital SLR.

+ Professional pictures even when enlarged to huge sizes. Prints are fantastic. Features easy to understand. Download is easy and very sensible.
- Battery life could be better.
A great digital camera that matches anything Nikon now make but at a far lower price. A best buy for me.

Gerry, Forres
+ Image quality is excellent, even set on high ISO the noise is very low. Lighweight easy to use and good value for money
- The LCD screen could have been bigger but the 400D covers that
It would have been nice for canon to supply a compact flash card.

+ Brilliant entry-level DSLR.
- The kit lens is good value but you will soon want a better general lens.
Highly recommended.

Dave, Lightwater Surrey
+ Excellent easy to use quality digital SLR with interchangeable lens capability
- Rather small body - I prefer the 300D for size but the 350D has improved features - can't win them all I suppose!
Excellent value

+ Excellent value for money, image quality outstanding for a camera of this price bracket.
- Kit lens covers a useful focal range but is of basic build quality and is non USM drive. I would imagine most users will want to upgrade to better optics in the medium term, to get the best out of this camera. Having said that, I managed to take some stunning images with the kit lens!
An excellent camera and an ideal introduction to DSLR's as well as perhaps a backup unit for pro-users. Image quality is excellent and layout of displays and controls is nicely done.

+ This Camera is fantastic and the quality is second to none that I have owned or experienced.
- There are no bad points and I can only say that it never ceases to amaze me just what I can do with it.
At the time of purchase this was the best value for money camera I bought and can not complain.

+ Brilliant Digital SLR at very good price, makes it very easy for anyone to enter the world of semi profesional photography at a realistic price.
- Only bad point I have encountered is if you fill the memory card fully, you cannot delete any images, as the camera lcoks up and tells you its full. Transferred images across using a card reader, been fine since I now keep a close eye on the available space.
Very good to use, very light to hold which is important, and has very quick startup speed so you dont miss a single shot.

+ Light weight and easy to use and the software is useful and easy to use.
- Hand grip is easily scratched/marked.
Very pleased with the overall apperance and the picture quality is as good as a 35mm film camera.

+ Programmes are fairly intuitive and provides plenty of scope for the serious amateur - I use this camera mainly for recording building work/defects in connection with my work
- Not the easiest manual to follow
A sound, good all round camera
08 Nov 2006
Emma, Godalming
+ Existing Canon EF lenses and my reomte switch all function with the EOS 350D. Manages cold temperatures without problems (tried and tested in Glencoe over Christmas and New Year down to -10C in the glens and -15C on tops). Good editting software & RAW conversion software comes free.
- the semi-hard case is next to useless, always coming detached when taking photos.
fantastic camera, very few problems and would happily recommend to anyone, and would happily purchase again.

+ great camera for a slr virgin like myself, easy to use and nice to hold
- screen could do with being bigger (resolved on the 400d) the camera strap is absolutely awful, like having a bit of rope round your neck

+ Excellent image quality and night time mode
- Some issues with flash when using camera in portrait
Excellent camera would recommend

+ Image quality is excellent. I use mine in low light conditions and the image quality at high ISO ratings is very very good
- The 18-55mm lens supplied doesn't get the best out of the camera but its fine for general use
I purchased a 50mm F1.8 fixed focal length lens. Its very high quality and cheaply priced. The image quality takes on a whole new level when I use it.

+ Just want to point and snap and be confident of getting great quality pictures? This cameras got it. Want to delve a little deeper and control the picture taking process? This cameras got it.
- A lot of features to figure out but then all similar cameras will be the same.
A fine camera. I'm very happy with it. I'm 100% confident of getting great pictures using it no matter what the setting and scenario.

Chriss, Selby
+ Excellent image quality and a good camera for photographers who are making the move away from the standard 35mm film format. All the usual SLR features plus lots of new ones, are still incorporated for the enthusiastic photographer.
- Too many "twiddly things" for the novice photographer to cope with.
A brilliant camera offering just about every feature a seasoned photographer could wish for. Still a good choice for a novice as the camera will run in fully auto mode - just point and squeeze the shutter - Bingo!

+ My first Digital SLR: ease of use was surprisingly good - produced excellent results within an hour of opening the box
- Haven't found any yet on the camera, however I also bought the dedicated Canon case which is annoying to use!

+ Fast boot up time is shockingly fast the other good points are what you would expect from a camera of this class and the features are good
- feels a little small pictures taken at high iso ratings are not as nice as they could be, peronal view
I have produced excelent 20x16 inch pictures that have been cropped slighty and they sit nicely on the wall. cant say fairer than that

+ Although i have heard negative feedback on the size of the camera, i personally find it a good and light camera to use.
- The 'flap' under which the computer connections are found appears rather flimsy and easy to break.
Good quality images with ease of use.

- Some people may find it a little small.

Colin, Sunderland
+ An Excelent camera, image quality and colour reproduction are spot on, start up speed is very fast.
- The look through the viewfinder is a bit on the small side, the kit lens is a bit loose to use but you can buy another cannon lens to suit.
A nice light camera to carry around with you, even with a long lens on. Plus you can take some excelent shots with this camera, lots of functions to keep you busy... Enjoy..

Nigel, Sheffield
+ Light weight and very versatile program modes, all the best features of a film SLR with the added bonus of instant digital veiwing. Needs very little 'head in the book' time very well laid out and intuitive menu design and controls.
- Agreement with many reviews I've read, the kit lens could have been better only a minor blot though.
Still a class leader and well worth the price tag.

+ As a fond and long-standing owner of conventional Canons (AE1 and EOS), the 350D is very familiar in look and feel, and confidence inspiring as a result - but lighter and digital, with all the associated benefits

- Focus sometimes off.
28 Feb 2006
Adrian, Maidenhead
+ Fast start-up, good first D-SLR for anyone coming from a film SLR who is used to thinking in terms of speed & aperture for some shots.
- Kit Canon lens (18 - 55mm) lets down good body. Colours and contrast of LCD not representative of final image once downloaded to pc.
Don't limit camera's potential with poor lenses.

+ Size and weight
- Instruction manual needs simplifying - quick guide required.

+ Excellent package with a good all round lens for a starter kit in SLR
- No ability to run camera off power adapter, which is useful if battery is low and download is big
An excellent package and the autofocus on USM lens is very fast, coupled with 0.2 sec startup make for point and shoot SLR

+ The Picture Qualitiy from this camera is superb. Auto Focusing is easy as a point and shoot camera but withe the other features makes a picture perfect
- The lense does not have a far enough zoom but that is just an upgrade away. The case is massive and doesn't really have must perpouse

+ This is a beautiful camera to use. I've had a good digital camera before but this is in a different league. On automatic it's as simple as the point and shoot instants but with an assurance that the image you get will be exactly the one you want. And now that I'm getting more confident I'm finding the features such as white balance and independent control of the shutter and aperture interesting to play with.
- The automatic focusing is very fast and particularly in close up mode I find it difficlt to focus exactly where I want. In fat I often switch to manual for tricky shots.
A wonderful camera that I love using
21 Sep 2006
David, Corbridge
+ The SLR combined with a 2GB memory card lets you take endless photographs wihch means even a hopeless photographer can end up with professional looking images.
- Limited zoom lets the camera down. Put this camera with a stronger lens and you have the perfect 10.

+ Excellent features covering just about everything that I required, including mirror lock-up and an LCD lamp.
- The kit lens isn't the best set of glass, but it gets you going.
Very good camera. Only rivaled by the Nikon D50, being roughly the at the same level of "features per pound", but as the 350D is slightly more expensive, you get a better camera.

+ Great quality camera; can be used at any level of competency; battery life excellent; can't really see that I would ever want another camera after this; ability to use some previous USM lenses I had was a real bonus.
- Lack of a decent case; handle strap has come off a couple of times; otherwise can't really fault it.
Nothing to add to above. Gre
