+ good quality prints, decent speed, quiet when printing, refills reasonable price it will do all it said on the packet.

- how to select second size paper from hopper as i cant work it out?

+ It does what it says it does and does it well.

- Software isn't the easiest to use, to me it isn't really user friendly, but after a few hiccups I now get results.

+ the Brother printer is very quiet when printing and ink cartridges are cheaper than the HP printer i had before purchased this printer

- The quality is not very good when printing photo and the printer is quite slow when printing photograph

- Loading paper is a pain. You recommend that one should NOT unplug power (Could damage ink head ?)
Compared to HP the software isn't good - Scansoft Paperport 11. Slow compared to HP
Given the opportunity to select again, I'd take a look at a different machine.
Only through a problem with my PC did I have to discard my HP and an overall software problem meant I had to select another make.

+ good size for the office and most fuctions automatic once prompted

- printing time is a little slow and unit rocks about like a washing machine

Print quality in monochrome and colour are good.

- Rather slow and procedure to change from colour to black printing rather involved.

- Paper loading is a bit of a pain. I suspect the tray is rather fragile

+ Easy to use, to date trouble free, compact and fits easily on desktop, easy to change inkk cartridges and generally simple and easy to use all round

- Envelope printing facilities are very poor, and would influence me not to buy this again, unless there was an external feed seperate from the paper tray. The cost of operating is very high, the ink cartridges are unjustifyably expensive. Again I would look elsewhere when replacing the unit in the future

+ Straightforward to use for printing (except for one major point - see below) and for scanning.
I purchased a Brother printer specifically because it takes separate refills for each ink colour.

- The software package doesn't cope automatically with double-sided printing - a major deficiency. My previous printer (HP Deskjet D2360) handled this nicely - printing (I think) the odd sides first then prompting me to re-insert the paper for the even sides. Now I have to do this "by hand", asking the application for a second print run, and the interface is different for Adobe Reader / Word / Powerpoint / IE etc. - a real pain.
