+ It's a fantastic machine and the extra load capacity really helps with a baby and an 8 year old

- It doesn't have a child lock. Never occurred to me to ask as I assumed such a good company as Bosch would include something so vital automatically. My fault, but very much regretted.

+ Easy to follow instructions. Detachable detergent drawer for easy cleaning. The machine is relatively quiet. Temperature can be altered on several programmes. Time delay button of 19 hours. Intelligent machine calculates spin speed time according to weight of washing.

- Instruction manuel needs better bounding. Drum capacity is 7kg but machine found bulky duvet difficult which weighed only 3kg. Since washing duvet machine is now noiser.

- Door cannot be opened when you want to pause a wash programme (no mechanical release mechanism). Owing to electronic lock control, door cannot be opened immediately after manually switching off a programme. Some programmes allow too limited a choice of spin speeds.

- the instructions were a little complicated to understand but once I fully understood what they mean, i was very impressed.

There is the facility to delay the start of the programme, but this is a facility I personally do not use.

+ Extremely easy to use - even my 87-year old father-in-law knows how to use the machine. Very quiet throughout its speed range and it has some really useful features. It also cleans the clothes very well!!

- On the easy care program the default spin speed is always 800. To select 1200 it is necessary to touch the select button several times to change it from 800 as it sequences through the slower speeds first.

- The touch buttons are very easy to catch on the front of the washer, and change the settings by mistake.

+ It has one knob selection of washing programme and display shows all the details you need to know. One can select the water temperature separately to the programme and importantly it shows how long the wash has left. It then beeps when finished which is useful but can be annoying if you don't get to machine quickly.
It seems to clean better than our old machine. It automatically adjusts amount of water it uses depending on how much you put in it, so it makes you feel green. The energy rating is good.

- No real bad points as such, it is quiet but not as quiet as I expected. The length of the standard washes can be long, but maybe this is necessary. Have only had it a few months - I am most interested in reliability. If it lasts 10 years I'll be happy.

+ As a domesticated chap (!) this is my second Bosch washing machine; my old one having expired after 9 years hard labour. Did not hesitate to go for another and this one represents excellent value for a quality machine. Its quick, quiet and laundry comes out extremely clean.

- The "wash finish" alarm would wake up the neighbours!

+ A quiet machine, even at high spin. Does a good job even on the very short 15 mins cycle.

- Door is a bit difficult to close successfully: you only realise it's not tight when the machine fails to start.

- The time of the programme cycles are not always correct which I feel is very misleading. More often then not, a 50 min cycle will last for much longer which isn't ideal considering that I bought this machine for its stated short programmes. Also, the 1400 rpm only works on certain programmes.

+ easy to use and can amend programs - eg increase spin speed etc. Cycles are very quick. Very quiet in operation. you can delay the start time which is really useful - can set start time.

- keeps on beebing at the end of the cycle and there is no way to turn the beeb off - especially annoying if you use machine over night - however there is a timer facility so you can delay the start time and that means the clothes aren't left damp in the machine.
