Bosch WAS28466GB reviews: Front Loading loading, 8kg capacity washing machine

+ Quick 15 minute wash

- Didn't realise 1400 spin only on certain cycles. Possibly would have upgraded to 1600 then maybe 1400 would have been more readily useable?

+ Easy to use, quiet, good choice of programmes, within each program wash temperature and spin speed can be changed. "Mixed load" program only takes 1 hour, "Quick wash" takes 15 mins.

- The 1400rpm speed and 8 kg load can only be used with the cottons program that takes 2 1/4 hours. Beep at the end of the program (this can be switched off).

+ Quiet; electronic display makes checking programme status easy; feels solidly built

- Heavy loads (towels) don't always spin fully first time around, presumably because of weight imbalance in drum. Cold fill only, but some may find that an advantage.

+ Excellent machine - does what it says on the tin!

- need to be careful on dimensions - the door is proud on the front

+ Large door, easy controls & settings

- Its goes through a sequence to redistribute the load before starting a spin. If you only have one item that is water laden, on occassion, it will eventually give up after several attempts.

+ i love the big door opening as it is much easier to load the machine, it's efficient, and i love the quick wash functions, and the ability to change the spin rates.

- i have found that the control buttons are so sensitive that i can sometimes alter the programme accidently, fortunately it "beeps" and i can change it back.

+ Wide range of cycles and able to alter spin speed, temperature and cycle time.

- Has a very large drum which is great most of the time but would prefer a "half load" cycle as well.

+ Good range of programmes, its cycles are on average 50 minutes for lower tempertures and 100 minutes for the cotton 60 wash. The big 8k drum means I can get my washing completed faster while presumably using less energy than previously. The timer function is handy for those of us with Economy 7 Electric. I was able to install the machine myself with relative ease.

- Operating instructions are terrible, its a leaflet with diagrams, if anyone can tell me how to turn off the beep signal at the end of the wash I'd be grateful, the instructions indicate that it can be done, but I can't work it out! Would be helpful if there was an inbuilt weight indicator so you don't have to guess if your cottons are too heavy....

+ Enough programs for wot ever you wont to wash. Large drum and less iron button and clothes are not creased

- Buttons are to sensitive to touch. Even after cycle begins you can change program witch is not good if you have small child

+ Simple to use, clear controls. Good results with all settings.

- Door is a bit "chunky" and needs a firm push to close it

+ The super quick wash is ideal for freshening towels etc. The range of cycles is excellent and by far the best bosch I have ever bought. It was great to find bosch offered a larger drum which is brilliant for anyone who has their machine on nearly as often as their kettle...saves time, money and detergent!!!

- The reviews listed already complained of the sensitive button and agree it is a nuisance. However it does beep to let you know you have touched it, which causes it to pause..one push and it is back on again. Would suit a utility room and its just a pity it has no child lock, as small fingers could change the settings. A small price to pay for such a good machine otherwise though.

+ This machine has a faster cycle than a lot of other brands available. It washes the clothes very well. I am pleased with the result. A large door which is set higher than my previous machine thus making it easier to load and unload. The larger door also assists in checking that the last red sock is not hiding before I put in the white sheets!

- Perhaps a little noisier that some other brands but its good points outweigh this.

+ This is the best washing machine I've ever had. It 8kg load washes duvets a must with small children.

- If you touch up against the machine while it is working you can inadvertently change the wash programme mid-cycle.

+ Absolutely love it! Quick, easy to use - fantastic. Has halved my washing time and the large drum has reduced the amount of loads i do.

+ Very easy to use. It's pretty quiet and the digital display gives the cycle times, temperature and spin rate. The drum is large which means you're less likely to overfill it. I'm very pleased with the machine and would recommend it to a friend.

Many programmes at very high temperatures whereas ,I like to use 30 degrees or less

+ large load, easy loading with generous door. Fairly short cycle times. Good quality results. Many cycle options

+ I love the spin speed, it really makes a difference to drying times both on the line and in the tumble dryer. I like the ability to alter spin speed and temperature to suit the load and the time display to inform me when i need to return to put the next wash in.

- Bit noisy (but nothing ugly) and can't, for the life of me, work out from the instructions how to lower the volume on the end-of-cycle beep.

- Annoying beeping noise when the cycle finishes. It never stops until you turn it off.

+ Solid construction, large capacity, easy to program, clear controls, quiet in operation and cleans washing well.

- Instructions in the handbook are poor and hard to follow - not as good as our previous Bosch machine.
Can someone describe in simple steps how you turn the warning buzzer off at the end of the wash cycle! The handbook instructions are hard to follow.
Much too easy to change the program settings or stop the cycle whilst in operation by brushing against the front panel touch buttons - buttons are far too sensitive.
Castors on the front and rear would help moving this heavy machine about.

+ Its a Bosch. Very solid - big 8kg drum. Lots of features.

- the cycle time can be a bit long i.e. 2hrs; if you want 'whiter than white'. The toddler high control dial is not todler proof - could be a problem if your little darling twiddles with it during a cycle.

+ washes clothes really well.

+ I can throw everything in, including my dirty riding gear, light weight stable rugs and my teenage son's filthy rugby kit and it all comes out clean and fresh after just one wash. it's very straight forward to operate, even my husband can choose the right wash, and it's lovely and quiet. i hope it goes on for years like the last one did.

- It is not possible to stop the beeping noise at the end of the wash without stopping the warning volume. I often want to use the machine overnight to take advantage of cheeper electricity and the beeping disturbs the dog and then us. The warning noise is good as I want to know if there is a problem, but I usually don't need to know the wash has finished. So optional end of programme beeping please.

+ DRUM IS HUGE - IDEAL FOR A FAMILY WITH 5 CHILDREN. VARIETY OF WASH PROGRAMMES IS SUPERB - IT IS A VERY QUIET MACHINE - LOOKS OK AND VERY EASY TO USE.

- CONTROLS ARE A PAIN AS THEY INVITE CHILDREN TO TOUCH...NOT POSSIBLE TO LOCK PROGRAMMES OR SWITCHES. SPIN SPEEDS ARE SET FOR SOME PROGRAMMES AND IT IS NOT ALWAYS POSSIBLE TO USE MAXIMUM - OE OF MY RERASONS FOR BUYING WAS SPIN SPEED. THIS MACHINE ONLY ACCEPTS A COLD FEED

+ It has a feelgood factor about it. Much shorter main washing programme therefore ecconomic to run. Even my Husband will be able to use it!!

+ really great machine ,i have had other cheaper branded machines but this one is great,its quiet ,easy to use,washes clothes properly!

+ Changing the programs you use according to the weight of the load you are washing, allowing you to do very short cycles on light soiled, small loads.

- Although the machine says it can wash up to 8kg the drum is too small to take this amount of washing.

+ Very good drum size - lots of different cycle options which can also be adapted for specific needs, great spin cycle which leaves washing practically dry. Much quieter than other machines I have had. Very pleased with machine. (However, is towards the expensive end of the price range).

+ We have bought Bosch products for many years and been very pleased with them. However, this machine is much quieter which is a bonus. We have bought a machine with a larger drum this time and I can now do two loads in one, which is also a bonus. We like the buzzer to tell you the machine has done its complete cycle, which our previous Bosch didn't have. Not having to turn a knob for the programmes is good now there is a touch pad for the programmes.

- Still cant get my head round having a cold fill which heats up as the programme commences, as our previous one took in hot water, but no doubt I will get used to it and I am a bit dubious as to whether it will take more electricity as the programmes are a bit longer because the water has to heat up.

+ Excellent product - good choice of useful programmes. 1400 spin has reduced drying times in the dryer - hope to see reduced electric bills! No noisier than old 14 year old Bosch with 1000 spin.
Reccomend the 8Kg load - very good for bedding etc.

- List price - good value with deal price.

+ the 8kg load means fewer weekend washes and can get in dog blankets, curtains etc easily

+ brilliant.The drumsize means washing a huge load is no longer a problem .sooo much fits in .Just followed the bosch advice re which programs to use and the laundry is immaculate.The superquick wash is only 15 mins !laundry almost dry when spin 1400rpm used.Very quite and beeps when wash finishes..the delay timer for putting on washes later at nightor whenever you want is excellent and really easy to use.very happy customer

+ My "house husband" was a bit apprehensive when he first saw all the buttons on his new "toy", but was soon won over by its efficiency, capacity, flexibility and quietness. Now he can't stop washing things - the cats are starting to eye him warily!

- Can't really think of any. Buttons are a bit sensitive and the programs are almost too flexible! Oh and it would be nice if it did the ironing too!

+ Compared to my old washing machine the new Bosch is so efficient and quiet.

- Considering it was one of the most expensive washing machines it does not have a child lock whereas my friend bought a cheaper model and she has a child lock on her washing machine. I find that touching against the buttons very slightly changes the cycle.

+ It's super quiet and super quick. The drum size is fantastic and I haven't yet had a problem with the amount of stuff I can cram into it!

- The programmes are not particularly flexible. For example, you can't put a mixed load on at 50degrees, you have to choose a different programme. No big problem though. Also, the machine beeps periodically for a long time after it's finished until you switch it off. This can get very irritating.

+ It is a efficient washing machine, the spin of 14,000 is amazing, the 1 min programme really works and is appreciated by th teenagers in or family. Our Old Bosch machine had worn out and it is areal pleasure to see the results of the new one. It has also cut my ironong time as it does not crease items as much as my old Bosch.

+ Quiet, decent quick wash. Very good rinsing! This only has a B rating for spin but the clothes have come out drier than the previous washing machine which had an A rating for spin. Decent sized drum with a good opening (almost 180 degree). Nice controls and useful display.

- Only thing is the beep, it is very insistent. Pity you can't turn this off.

+ Huge drum. Quick cycle time options. Reasonably quiet.

- Far too easy to accidentally change programme part way through - and far too easy for my toddler to change programme. Quick cycle options aren't terribly effective.

+ brilliant machine, does what you tell it handles most loads, should have got one long ago. Especially like the drum- doesht catch belts, buckles etc. Love the fact that you can add more washing really easily once cycle started...no long time delay.

- beep, but it stops after a while!. Also have to be careful not to brush past buttons and change the cycle.
