ATACAMA EQUINOX HIFI 2 SHELF BASE MODULE

+ an excellent piece of functional modern equipment a really good base for hi-fi seperates

- none really - as usual though the cables can be messy at the back

+ Beautifully designed, easy to construct, well built. It has a logical stacking system which not only makes it easy to build up with your system, but looks fantastic and has all the components you would expect from a high-class hi-fi stand. The stand just looks as though it will improve the sound and guess what, it does. Clarity, bass reponse, separation, all improved. Oh, and my fiancee now allows me to have hi-fi in the sitting room!

- It costs a lot for something which might not be the most obvious sound benefit, but it really is worth it (just!)

+ Well built, looks good and most importantly makes a massive difference in sound quality. Sound is more focused, increased detail and tighter bass.

- The large size shelfs may dwarf smaller kit but its not a problem but some may rather a smaller size.

+ I have NAIM equipment and the sturdy cool matt black match it very well indeed. Very stable and solid. Looks serious and heavy duty.

- Couple: first is that there is no cable management at all which seemed very odd especially given that there is a single rear leg; why not incorporate management into this. That said, the NAIM speaker cable, bi-wired that I use, is all but unmanageable so it would be little use to me. Second is v minor: the dark glass tops seem to have been specifically designed to attract dust. They are NEVER clean, even when just dusted, new dusk just stakes over in about 2 seconds! I don;t care much, but my wife does....
