Apple MacBook Pro MB470B/A Reviews: Mac OS X 15.4" Screen Laptop computer

+ Beautifully designed piece of kit

- Still quite expensive

+ Incredibly well designed; Apple's unibody laptops (this includes the newer MBPs released a couple of weeks ago) are vastly superior to their previous models. The case just feels rock solid (but in no way bulky or clunky). The screen is beautiful, everything (webcam, audio, etc) just works out of the box (without a million annoying task bar icons to make them all run), the battery lasts a respectable 4ish hours under normal use (I spend most of my time programming, which would be roughly the same as word processing or browsing the internet in terms of battery usage).

- It does run windows, but the mouse pad isn't very optimised for it - it can be a little jumpy (it's perfect under OS X). Also, under Windows, the slower graphics chip is completely disabled, and the faster one can get extremely hot. Neither of these affect OS X, or even Windows running inside VMWare or Parallels on top of OS X, so I'd consider them minor issues. The only reason I have to boot into fully native Windows is for gaming, where I'd usually be using an external mouse and the faster graphics anyway. It's not cheap as computers go, but you do get what you pay for - high quality.

+ The MacBook Pro comes with a selection of programmes installed. It is simpler to operate than a PC and has none of the frustrating habits provided Microsoft.

- Not all programmes have a Mac option available. Office style programmes have a child-like presentation and are more difficult to manage because of the size of the screen available. This applies to Office Mac as much as iWorks.

+ Looks good, feels good, does what I want it to do

- None Really - Tis a bit heavy but that is more than made up for as is is strong

+ It's a macbook pro for a very good price, it is very fast and noiseless, and the battery life is good (more than 4h) and it has a very good design.
The Mac OSX Leopard operating system is good, fast and stable and it has good software in bundle.
The multitouch trackpad is very useful (the best that I have seen) and the LED Display is simply amazing.

- Only 2Gb of RAM
The aluminium unibody is very nice, but the weight is a bit hight
The keyboard is a bit little and it is too near to the display

+ As with all Apple products, the design is impeccable. It's very compact and unlike the previous Macbook Pro you can change the hard drive very easily.

- I'm still fighting the new style track pad a bit but I'm sure I'll get the hang of it soon.

+ Excellent design, amazing display and keyboard

- Battery lasts only 3,5 hours
