+ the iPhone is a fantastic bit of kit it truly makes web browsing mobile and the app store is a great idea which allows you to personalize your phone however you like. There are loads of reviews about the iPhone main features so this review is about the nice little features. The keyboards on the phone are great with the really inntuative which caters for the common mistyping errors when using the keyboards. The text history feature is nice too as it allows you to easily view of the conversations you are having regardless of how far back you go. The magnify feature to move around a sentence or word so you can place the cursor is good too but is still a bit of a compromise when it would be better to place the cursor using your finger. The iPhone headset has a good feature for starting the iPod player and skipping forward a song
- Battery life is poor but this is due to the success of the phone at being a great web browser which drains the battery - the life of the battery may be good if you only use it as a phone Head set ear pieces are pretty poor quality There is no copy and paste function which is annoying at times The screen requires a cover if you want it to remain in good condition so make sure you get one as your first accessory If you buy a cover for the rest of the phone make sure it doesn't cover the Black screen to the left of the ear piece (as you look at it) since this affects how the phone senses whether you are on a call or not The phone part of the iPhone is probably the worst part of the phone as if you lock the phone it is a lengthy process to get to dialling the number or finding a contact

+ Amazing! I thought I would never buy anything other than a Nokia phone, but I was glad I did. Internet is excellent and there are so many applications available too.
- Just a couple of minor points which hopefully will be sorted in future software updates - copy and pasting and forwarding text messages.

+ The software and touch pad is probably the best around. If you are looking for a phone that is an internet browser first than this phone is great. Great programs that you can download. Very tough I have dropped it many times without a case and it works fine. Camera is only 2 megapixel could have been better.
- GPS is not as good as I thought and battery life is not too good.

+ Good thing about the phone is fast internet - only on wifi though. Excellent things are applications and moving the pictures and songs, also god ipod.
- Not able to send mms, not able to resend the message you send before, not able to set up own ringtones, internet very slow unless on wifi, not able to switch off the predictive wiriting on sms

+ Overalll this phone is brilliant, i had the previous model and it is a big step up
- The battery life isn't sufficient enough for a phone that is also an ipod. This phone camera has no flash and for a very high-tech phone you cannot record videos. The standard ringtones are terrible you should be able to use a itunes song as your ringtone like on any normal phone. This phone has bluetooth but you cannot connect with other phones you should be able to share media with othe iphones

+ Excellent web browsing and aswell as a phone it is a fully functioning ipod.
- Poor camera and no video ability. The lack of Java support does detract from the web experience.

+ NIce design and easy to use. Use of web browsing also a good feature. Expanding screen to allow for easier reading of web pages excellent idea.
- Can sometimes take a few seconds for selected function to respond. Also occasionally locks up and needs to be reset.

+ Being able to see full websites instead of just WAP pages
- No Bluetooth, it would greatly enhance the enjoyment of the phone if you could share files via bluetooth. Also not being able to access the iTunes store unless your in a wifi area - that's very difficult - so I am unable to use make the most of the features which I purchased it for.

+ Design, inclusive data contract means you can actually use all the functions. Mobile Me means you can actually use email on the phone without it resulting in separate email on multiple devices
- However Mobile Me is very prone to downtime and sync of appointments can be a problem. No ability to send pictures other than via email, no flash player - the usual iPhone problems listed on many web sites - but overall it works MUCH better than other smart phones I have used

+ I could not live without this now, it syncs all my mac email and calendars, gives me films on the go, has tons of really great apps to download, just the best mobile device I have ever owned.
- Battery life could be better, but I ask it to do so much, it not surprising it runs out fairly quickly

+ very easy to use the internet is fantastic and the look of the phone is great the text message lay out is cool and the ipod is a big bonus as are the other features like the calcmaps and so on
- not alot on the phone ie ring tones video call or any video at all ,games(unless you are willing to pay).also you dont get very much in the package like earphones and the instructions are very limited although after a week or so you learn your way around the phone yourself

+ The features & layout are great and access to emails, ebay etc is fantastic. The phone is really easy to use and navigate around. The applications is brilliant, especially as more and more are quickly becoming available, there is a wide range of application types which all add to the overall quirkiness of the phone. Many of these are free and others are pretty low cost.
- Battery runs down quickly if you use the phone a few times, so I charge it every night. There are still improvements to be made, like adding a zoom feature to the camera function. Also, the options for settings like ringtones, alarms & snooze times could be improved. Will be great if the skype application gets added. Occasionally the screen sticks but this isn't a major problem.

+ I can look at the Internet anywhere (just like writing this review). Loads of space to put loads of albums on! Also the extra software you can download is awesome. Overall it's designed exactly how you need a phone plus so much more. Excellent phone.
- only one that could be a turn off for some is the battery life when used on the net. When using anything else on the phone the life lasts fine, but due to the complexity of the Internet it takes a lot of power. Then again, on flight mode on my holiday travels the iPod on the phone played for hours without the battery dropping down 1 bar ;)

+ Very easy to use, superb design, excellent e-mail functions, clear music and it is sexy.
- camera not the best on the market, but hey it is only meant for snapshots not studio photography.

+ the handset is easy to use, stylish and has a lot of useful features. The web browser is great (when you get a signal) and the ipod I use everyday.
- the phone often freezes and the fact you can't send photo messages is just daft. Sending emails is slow and difficult and the battery life is not enough. I am very dissapointed that the iphone is not anything close to what it could be.

+ Looks good and once familiar it is easy to use
- When this phone is on full volume in my pocket or bag I miss most calls it is far too quiet, even after a download tune and selected the loudest. Really annoying The battery is pants and rarely lasts half a day without needing charging - an impractical business tool coming from Blackberries.

Arron, Manchester, “Mature student loves gadgets”
+ Easy to use software, no problems at all since version 2.1 of the software. Love the browser and email. App store is terrific, you can turn this phone into anything you want it to be. iPod functionality means this is a great multimedia device. Maps function with Google Earth and directions has been useful many times. My life is organised through Microsoft Outlook and this synchronises with it very well for calendar and contacts. Very polished interface. Despite the bad points I have listed, I like this phone better than any I have ever owned (roughly 15-20, I've lost count). I only got it because I got sick of waiting for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 to come out and don't regret it for a moment.
- No ability to forward texts, unable to selectively delete texts, no copy and paste of text, no video recording. Browser can be slow even over 3G. Can't run apps in the background and there is very little ability to personalise the interface.

+ Has a wide range of apps e.g facebook, games ect. and other features wich other phones dont and looks great and is easy to use. Also being able to buy music on the go.
- Advances in some areas of phone technology but is lacking the basic functions which are standard with nearly all other phones for the last few years e.g bluetooth concetion with other phones, able to record video and send and recieve pics.

+ it's a great gadget. smooth screen make it easy to navigate and the applications you can download are great and fairly easy to update. It looks fantastic
- battery life is awful. i think that there has been to much hype about this phone and without even being able to take a video i would have chosen a different phone at the start if i could have with a more competitive tariff. it is too expensive and is more fluff than funk

Matt, Guildford, “Thirtysomething Business Professional”
+ The package is extremely good value for money, especially the unlimited ( within reason ) web browsing, which is a life saver at times. The phone is well built and rugged, although I recommend a case to prevent damage to the screen and easy to learn to use. It doesn't hurt to have a built-in ipod either which, to my mind, is still the industry-leading music player.
- The camera is, frankly, poor. This isn't something that bothers me as I usually have a 7MP digital camera with me when at work and don't take many pictures outside it, but be aware. Battery life is also an issue. Although the iPhone will get me through the day, the battery can become very low when using the iPod or making heavy use of the web browser.

+ Pleasure to use overall, but hopefully Apple will release software updates to copy with some of the issues below.
- As expected it loses charge quickly if used a lot for data (emails, web browsing etc). The screen is scratched / damaged easily. No MMS support No copy/paste functionality. No support for bluetooth data transfer. Poor camera, and no video capture. No video calls despite 3g support.
09 Oct 2008

+ Well designed, good user interface and quality screen
- Poor software, no proper sat nav function, no mms support, short battery use life, no external memory option, no video record option, limited playback support for common audio and video formats. Almost a great phone, but not quite !!

+ The iPhone is an iconic piece of kit which has made vast improvements since the first launch. The look and feel of the phone is modern and clean and leaves all other attempted copy cats sitting looking like a very early noughties versions. The iPhone has so many features which I shout about: free downloads diary / calendar GPS maps music facebook banking (first direct) BBC iPlayer Phonesabre!!
- There are only a couple of bad points on the phone: Battery and Camera When they sort these features out then will be no need to look at a different brand!
13 Oct 2008

+ Lots of apps, looks great.
- Because of it's close link with iTunes, sometimes getting started or getting things fixed is not easy or intuitive.

- The keypad is too small for my fingers and the ring switches off too easily.

+ It just works! I've had loads of highly spec'd PDAs and smartphones - this is the most resilient device I've had. The device and all the software are beautifully designed - everything is a pleasure to use. The app store enables you to extend the functionality of the phone and personalise it for your own needs. I love iPhone!
- I wish the battery life was better... but as I always seem to be playing with it - it's probably my fault!
13 Oct 2008
John, Folkestone
+ Great piece of kit and very easy to use. The software available at the application store (I usually only download the free ones) make the Iphone very multi purpose. A classic, which all the others try to copy.
- Battery life is not the best, whether you use it or not, you have to charge it every other night, and when the battery indicator less that 60% there is a good chance that the battery will be dead before the morning, so don't rely on it as an alarm clock!
13 Oct 2008

+ I like the fact that i have one thing that does multiple tasks, for example email and MP3 player. It keeps me connected and entertained.
- I dislike the fact that you cant delete individual texts. I would also like to be able to send picture messages - not email as is currently available but by sms. Also i would like to be able to send pics etc to other mobile phones by bluetooth. It would be good to have MP3 ringtones. Oh and we really need to loose the quacking ducks sound file :)

Anonymous, “An on-the-go designer type”
+ perfect if you want to stay in touch and organized when out and about, and great entertainment features when you have time to chill out.
- not a big issue but I find it a bit slipy to hold onto when using the camera, but I've ordered a rubber cover so that. Should sort that!
12 Oct 2008
Kayla, Bristol
+ Great applications, so you can customise your iPhone for what you want it to do. Very easy to use, and it's handy to have everything on one device: iPod, Phone, Internet, Games... It's like having a laptop with you everywhere you go. Lots of storage space for just the 8GB: photos, music.... It's a very good looking phone!
- Battery life makes it unreliable. Need more options e.g. SMS forwarding, copying and pasting. Sometimes have to reboot because the typing on text is slow and can't keep up. Looks great but gets smears easily and you can't get rid of them. Could have a better quality camera for such an overrall good phone, 2mpg is pretty poor.
