Score 9.0/10+ Fabulous basic netbook pre-loaded with XP. Really lightweight to take on the road. So far we've encountered no problems at all.

Score 9.0/10+ Excellent, portable computer. My desk top rarely gets switched on now as this netbook can handle most things that I want to do. It's not just for web browsing but is very capable at running software such as MS Office. The keyboard is a good size and the screen is non-reflective so not a problem to use outside.
- Battery life is only around 1.5 hours but as I mostly use it plugged into the mains, that's not really such a problem for me.

Score 5.0/10+ Good keyboard and non-reflective screen.
- Haven't been successful in enabling and using the wi-fi for internet The fact it doesn't come with a printed manual is a big shortfall. Am now trying to get someone with greater knowledge to sort things out

Score 9.0/10+ Light, good design, keys better than most small netbooks, virtually every facility on a laptop (see below about no CD Rom
- Didn't realise no CD drive so loading software can be a problem (but would rather have the lighter weight) - you just need to be aware that you will have to download or transfer to a memory stick, which can be fiddly

Score 9.0/10+ Love the screen size, design, weight and performance for its size. I dont know of other Atom processor based Netbooks that play back video without stuttering. Although I bought mine as "Recon" it looks and feels new. I did a lot of research before purchasing as this was the best deal I could find.
- Standard battery although small, isnt realy suitable for my purposes so I have replaced it with a 6 cell one which means I can watch video continously for about 3 hrs.

Size is great making it very portable. I have just taken it on a 10 day motorcycle tour of Spain and Portugal and with so many free WiFi spots everywhere, I was able to keep in touch with family and update my blog daily. Skype download gave us free video calls from the hotels saving us pounds on telephone calls.
Screen is clear and bright and all functions are easy to use, I would urge anyone looking for a netbook to consider this.
- The battery when using WiFi will only last for about an hour.

Score 8.0/10+ Astonishing performance with Windows XP as supplied. Even better when 2GB RAM added for about 13 quid. WiFi reception, usually dreadful in my house is excellent with this machine. I bought a larger battery which now gives me about 4 hours without charging, which is just fine. Delighted that there isn't the usual load of unwanted trial software. Just XP and the recovery partition. Add OpenOffice.org and Firefox (all free and superb) and you may not need anything else. Fabulous!
- Battery life a bit weedy with the standard battery, but not too bad really, and you can solve that problem, if it is a problem to you.

Score 9.0/10+ I bought a reconditioned model, and unfortunately the first one had a fault on the screen but it was exchanged with no problem at all. I'm really pleased with my purchase, bought for word processing but I have found the internet access much better than I expected. Sturdy design, good keyboard and lovely clear screen. I'd definitely recommend it, and in fact my colleagues who have seen it want one too!

Score 10.0/10+ The Advent with wifi and webcam plus MS XP combines perfectly with the 1GB RAM to give more than satisfactory results, in terms of speed, readiness, easines with which you can perform the same basic options you do with its cousin the huge 17" laptops, but at the same time it allows to watch shows from TV channels, broadcast your collection of MP3 wirelessly when connected to a hi-fi system, even update a website. In some points it's even better designed than the bigger size ones. The bundled Microsoft Works gives independence from Office, and running Adobe Reader, Spotify, Windows Live Messenger, Skype, is a breeze. The weight and operation are another plus, and the size of the keys even allows quickly typing pretty much as in a normal size laptop,
- I can't see anything wrong with either design or performance, the only thing would be (although I don't know if it's techically possible) to increase the screen definition from 1024 x 600 to 1024 to 768 required by, for example, Yahoo Mail to run their mail application, and maybe some other application.

Its got almost everything that i need, wireless internet, bluetooth, camera, mic and XP operating system.
I like how everything can be turned on and off by shortcuts on the keyboard quickly. Also the laptop isnt just a square boring thing, it has got a bit of roundness to it. The hardrive and ram are plenty big enough.
- laptop is still a bit too plain i think. Battery could do with lasting longer. I would have liked to have seen an intergrated sim card slot for those that have mobile broadband. The only other thing i can think of is it would have been an absolutely perfect laptop if the ram was upgraded to 2gb.

Expert reviews for Advent 4211
TechRadar expert review
Advent is PC World's in-house brand, and provides home power and usability at affordable prices. While the Advent 4211c is a rebranded version of the 10.2-inch MSI Wind U100, its fantastic screen, interface and high-street availability make it a great choice. The slim chassis weighs just 1.1kg ‚Äì the same as all but the Samsung NC10. Its smooth black and silver styling looks great and suits both home and business use. The poor 167-minute battery life is bettered by all but the MSI U90, however, and limits mobility. Usability is one of the Advent's key strengths. The keyboard stretches…

PC World's Advent 4211 (¬£280 inc. VAT) was the Ô¨Årst in-house Netbook released by the high-street retailer. While it's merely a re-branded version of the MSI Wind, but only available in silver, it's still a fantastic Netbook with a stunning screen and great usability. The 1.1kg chassis is incredibly light and the black and silver design looks great. Tough build quality makes it resilient enough for constant mobile use. The small 3-cell battery runs for 167 minutes, which is low in comparison to its rivals, but suits the daily commute.Standout screenThe keyboard is great. Every key is…
