Power cord. This is bigger than the power supply, why do we need a power cord designed for 3kw on an item like this?. If you are to travel with this machine, this is not a trivial matter.

Score 9.0/10+ It's very compact, and the next version of this improves on it. The screen is pretty much perfect not to large and not to small most if not all websites translate very well on it and the keyboard is a great size as well. It is light and very mobile so fills in all the correct boxes.
- The battery has a very small charge on it and makes long journeys with now power socket a bit more frustrating although the processor power mode increases the battery life!

Score 7.0/10+ small, quiet, looks smart, can upgrade the ram and wifi card very easily (to 2gb ram, atheros). runs mac osx, windows xp and arch linux fine, but if you want AHCI you have to switch it off in the bios before you install xp, then install the driver and re-enable it in the bios. arch linux and osx work fine with AHCI out of the box.

Anonymous verified purchaser , “linux-using semi-geek.”
Score 10.0/10+ Small, light, cheap and perfectly good computing power. A much wider, better keyboard than comparable machines, and a good, high resolution matt screen. As far as I can see there is currently no competition - this is easily the best "netbook" on the market.
- Very low quality speakers. But you'd use headphones with this sort of machine anyway.

Score 9.0/10+ Great size. Not too small for typing, but nottoo big for traveling in a hand bag. Microsoft Works is ok, but the advertisements get a little annoying. I'm a PhD student, and the wifi and small size for traveling is the greatest.
- the plug is terribly large. I'm used to the American plugs, which don't take up space, but these GB-three pronged things are mammoth and heavy.
purchased 03 Nov 2008

Score 10.0/10+ Great construction and build quality, just the right size, reliable, has just the right amount of hardware and software for on the move. I've had it now for 3 months and find it invaluble. Even for watching bbc iplayer, the quality is quite acceptable. A top product !!
- None to speak of. The one area i have to look at is that it turns itself off sometimes for no apparent reason. I suspect it will be in the settings somewhere.

Expert reviews for Advent 4211
TechRadar expert review
Advent is PC World's in-house brand, and provides home power and usability at affordable prices. While the Advent 4211c is a rebranded version of the 10.2-inch MSI Wind U100, its fantastic screen, interface and high-street availability make it a great choice. The slim chassis weighs just 1.1kg ‚Äì the same as all but the Samsung NC10. Its smooth black and silver styling looks great and suits both home and business use. The poor 167-minute battery life is bettered by all but the MSI U90, however, and limits mobility. Usability is one of the Advent's key strengths. The keyboard stretches…

PC World's Advent 4211 (¬£280 inc. VAT) was the Ô¨Årst in-house Netbook released by the high-street retailer. While it's merely a re-branded version of the MSI Wind, but only available in silver, it's still a fantastic Netbook with a stunning screen and great usability. The 1.1kg chassis is incredibly light and the black and silver design looks great. Tough build quality makes it resilient enough for constant mobile use. The small 3-cell battery runs for 167 minutes, which is low in comparison to its rivals, but suits the daily commute.Standout screenThe keyboard is great. Every key is…
